Game je op de PC of Console of toch liever mobiel of in je browser? Kom je maar niet door een level heen, of is er juist een nieuwe game aangekondigd die je vet lijkt? Hier kun je het hebben over games in de breedste zin van het woord.

Voor de JRPG-fans kan ik The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky aanraden. Nu een kwart gespeeld en is een van de betere JRPGs van de laatste jaren.
Gevechtsysteem is een uitbreiding van dat van Final Fantasy X, zeer uitgebreid verhaal, interessante karakters en doordachte wereld. Alleen nog in NA verkrijgbaar en in Europa waarschijnlijk alleen PSN.

Misschien wel, maar eigenlijk wil ik de DS/PSP-generatie een beetje afsluiten. Ik ben nog bezig met Dragon Quest VI en moet nog FFIV Complete, Star Ocean, Pokemon Black en Radiant Historiaquote:
Trails in the Sky zie ik wel steeds terugkeren bij PSP-topics dus misschien volgend jaar nog ergens.

While still very popular in Japan, it seems like the PSP’s presence is shrinking in North America. How do you think you will release PSP games like the rest of the Trails in the Sky series, Zero no Kiseki, and Ao no Kiseki, overseas?
I think this is an obstacle being faced not only by the Trails/Kiseki series, but all PSP games in Japan right now. It may be hard to imagine in North America, but in Japan, the PSP is the best-selling game platform, so it’s not quite as simple as just deciding to make a game for one of the HD platforms like PS3 or Xbox 360.
It is a dilemma of sorts, but I think the important thing is to let people know that there are a lot of games worth playing in Japan. As the user numbers go up, there’ll be more options to choose from for everyone. So we would like to keep releasing more titles in North America to help spread this mindset.

Approximately how long is the script for Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky? How many words?
I’ve spent the last month trying to forget this bit of info…
Well, according to some erratically scrawled notes carved into my desk, Trails in the Sky clocked in at somewhere around 1.5 million characters (“characters” being Japanese kanji). That’s roughly equivalent to 3 hefty RPGs or a 600-800 page novel in English.
How long did this project take from start to finish? About how many hours do you estimate that you worked on Trails?
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is by far the longest we’ve ever spent localizing a game. From start to finish it straddled three separate years from November 2009 to February 2011 and was a real marathon run for everyone involved. But while translation started in November 2009, my role as editor didn’t really begin in earnest until March 2010, because I was still preoccupied with Lunar: Silver Star Harmony at that point. After Lunar was in the clear, I was able to focus my horrified attention on Trails for the next three months. During that initial period I slogged through system text and the prologue and realized belatedly just how impossible it would be to meet the deadline at the current pace. So, from June to December of 2010, I deprived the L.A. Transit Authority of my company and worked from home to squeeze out some extra hours.
