This is what Muhammed, 45, told Mona:
The situation is still not good in Misrata. Gaddafi's forces are centred at Misrata's main road. There are snipers on top of the houses to protect the tanks which are based inside the city and the tanks protect the snipers if they come under any fire.
All the tanks are based inside the city to avoid coalition attacks cause they are among the civilians, and all they do, just shooting in random though no one is attacking them.
Gaddafi's forces are checking houses, if they find unarmed men, they detain them. every day, civilian cars come from neighbouring towns to provide the tanks and the snipers with weapons and food. we do not have rebels in Misrata but all the people here are defending themselves by themselves, using knives, trenches and swords.
Coalition forces attacked Gaddafi's abandoned and unused air defences at the outskirts of the city. Water is cut but people began to dig wells to get water and they succeeded, the main grid for power was attacked by Gaddafi's forces but the men in Misrata were able to establish a new power line which most of the people are using now.
Gaddafi's forces and tanks are trying to shoot the huge fuels storage in the city but they could not do that till now. We are so worried if the fuels storage bombed, it will be a real disaster.

Even though the LIFG is not part of the al-Qaeda organisation, the United States military's West Point academy has said the two share an "increasingly co-operative relationship". In 2007, documents captured by allied forces from the town of Sinjar, showed LIFG emmbers made up the second-largest cohort of foreign fighters in Iraq, after Saudi Arabia.
Earlier this month, al-Qaeda issued a call for supporters to back the Libyan rebellion, which it said would lead to the imposition of "the stage of Islam" in the country.
British Islamists have also backed the rebellion, with the former head of the banned al-Muhajiroun proclaiming that the call for "Islam, the Shariah and jihad from Libya" had "shaken the enemies of Islam and the Muslims more than the tsunami that Allah sent against their friends, the Japanese".

Het gaat toch niet om de hoeveelheid? Het gaat erom dat er een deur openstaat voor een uiterst vijandige ideologie. Voor de definitie van terreur. Haat tegen het Westen. Is al verschillende x gezegd in een van de vele topics. Ook 1 van de redenen waarom de rebellen niet worden bewapend met zwaar materiaal vanuit het Westen. Ze hebben gewoon geen idee wat er mee gebeurd na een overwinning laat staan dat ze effectief gebruikt worden (training)
Echter ze hebben nu toegang tot geld (olie met Qatar), dus zal ook niet meer al te lang duren.De vraag blijft over wat na een overwinning van de rebellen gebeurd. 1 schakel daar kan toegang hebben tot bijna onbeperkt geld.

In dit artikel blijkt dat het westen vind dat het wapenembargo geldt voor heel Libie en dat Qatar misschien later nog wapens gaat verkopen.

* De medewerker van Royal Haskoning gaf zelf aan geen noodzaak te zien.
* Marine top was niet op de hoogte, er was alleen contact tussen de 4 ministers en de Tromp.
* MIVD oordeel niet afgewacht.

Als dit de enige 'intelligence' is dat de coalitie heeft over de rebellen, dan zie ik het maar somber in. Blijkbaar hebben ze dus echt geen flauw idee wie ze nu precies aan het steunen zijn.
Al Qaeda en Hezbollah zijn twee uitersten en aartsvijanden -Sunni vs Shia-, dus de kans is niet al te groot dat ze hier samen aan het vechten zijn...

De hoofdmoot van de oppositie is het volk. En daarbij aangesloten vrijwel alle andere vijanden die G door de tijd heen heeft gemaakt. Het is een samenwerking van burgers, stammen, strijders en militairen, die allen een rekening te vereffenen hebben met hun voormalig heerser.

Gaan jullie weer terug naar Tripoli ? nee we gaan nu naar Sirte
Jammer weer dat het kabinet zo druk bezig is met een non-discussie als een gefaalde evacuatie. Er is totaal niks aan de hand. Uiteindelijk gaat Hillen sorry zeggen, en gaat de boel gewoon weer verder.

Uhh in die pdf lees ik toch echt dat NN/De Waal (oftewel de medewerker van RH) meld dat hij relatief veilig is en dat RED24 bezig is hem te evacueren en het aanbod van de marine afslaat. en dit gaat over het aanbod van de "marine" op de 27equote:

Libya: Detainees,disappeared and missing, details over 30 cases of individuals who have disappeared since before protests began, including political activists and those suspected of being rebel fighters or supporters of fighters.
It appears that there is a systematic policy to detain anyone suspected of opposition to Colonel al-Gaddafis rule, hold them incommunicado, and transfer them to his strongholds in western Libya, said Malcolm Smart, Amnesty Internationals Middle East and North Africa Director.
Given the circumstances of their enforced disappearance there is every reason to believe that these individuals are at serious risk of torture and ill-treatment.
Colonel al-Gaddafi must halt this outrageous campaign and order his forces to abide by international law.

Er staat toch dat het kantoor al was binnengevallen door politie. De beschrijving daarvan is nog mild in het licht van de feiten die nu bekend zijn in die gevallen. De waal zijn paspoort lag in Tripoli wat niet te bereiken was. Red24 kon hem ook niet zo makkelijk bereiken. Ik denk dat de Waal zelf het gevaar niet zo inzag als de directie van HK zelf.quote:

Libyan forces loyal to Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi have carried out a campaign of enforced disappearances in an attempt to crush growing opposition to his rule, Amnesty International said today in a new briefing paper.
Libya: Detainees,disappeared and missing, details over 30 cases of individuals who have disappeared since before protests began, including political activists and those suspected of being rebel fighters or supporters of fighters.
It appears that there is a systematic policy to detain anyone suspected of opposition to Colonel al-Gaddafis rule, hold them incommunicado, and transfer them to his strongholds in western Libya, said Malcolm Smart, Amnesty Internationals Middle East and North Africa Director.
Given the circumstances of their enforced disappearance there is every reason to believe that these individuals are at serious risk of torture and ill-treatment.
Colonel al-Gaddafi must halt this outrageous campaign and order his forces to abide by international law.
Disappearances began taking place even before protests against Colonel al-Gaddafi had turned into armed rebellion.

Het is geen nieuws, maar nu zijn er wel 30 gevallen gedocumenteerd door een onafhankelijke, 'objectieve' organisatie. Normaal gesproken zijn het vaak geruchten.quote:

(Reuters) - The United States has appointed an envoy to the interim administration set up by Libyan rebels in Benghazi and expects him to go there soon, U.S. officials said Tuesday.
The United States has been seeking to bolster the Libyan National Council, and is due to dispatch the envoy, veteran diplomat Chris Stevens, in the near future.
"We have an increasingly clear sense of a number of leaders of the transitional council. We're still trying to develop a clearer picture, not just of the national council itself but also of the opposition military forces," the official said.
