Het is dat de afstanden veel te groot zijn (460km) , anders zouden de rebellen Surt links kunnen laten liggen en dan Richting Misratah gaan. Het is namelijk wel mogelijk want er zijn wegen die onder Surt door lopen.

10.48 uur: Opstandelingen rukken op naar westen
De opstandelingen rukken steeds verder op in westelijke richting. Volgens een correspondent van al-Jazeera hebben ze inmiddels de stad Uqayla bereikt. Uqayla ligt op 110 kilometer ten westen van Ajdabiya (in handen van de opstandelingen) en is het laatste obstakel in hun opmars naar Ras Lanuf, de belangrijkste oliestad van Libi.

It is pretty clear to me, and I am at the main refinery in Ras Lanuf, that here it is the opposition who are in control. No signs of Gaddafi's forces here, what they left behind is here, some of their weaponry is here, some of their armourments are here, but they have not left their tanks behind or any of their heavy armour, just some of the ammunition has been left behind, suggesting it was a pretty speedy retreat.

New footage released by the Ministry of Defence shows an RAF Tornado jet striking a rocket launcher after it comes under fire.
The Ministry of Defence have released video which they claim shows Tornado aircraft striking targets belonging to Colonel Gaddafi's forces near the Libyan towns of Ajdabiyah and Misurata.
In the first sequence a rocket launcher can be seen firing at the warplane which then takes aim and fires at the weapons system.
Whilst displaying the precision of the Tornado's targeting systems the footage also reveals the low collateral damage inflicted by the fired missile as a crew member is clearly visible running from the destroyed vehicle.
The second sequence shows the British aircraft destroying three armoured vehicles dug into a constructed earth bank.

In total the United States fired 16 missiles at Libyan targets on Thursday and Friday as part of the country's role in the UN-mandated mission to protect Libyan civilians from forces loyal to Colonel Gaddafi, the Pentagon said.

March 27 (Reuters) - Dressed in a khaki uniform and protective helmet, a French pilot emerges from the Rafale fighter jet that just landed on the deck of the Charles de Gaulle carrier, back from another mission over Libya.
A dozen mechanics scramble to assess the plane: the fuel specialists wear red, the maintenance crew green and the on-deck traffic controllers wear yellow, barking orders that have earned them the French nickname "yellow dogs". A Hawkeye radar plane is next to land, soon to be replaced by another on the night flight."It never stops," says a lieutenant. The Charles de Gaulle is a week into its mission to enforce a no-fly zone over Libya and protect civilians from forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
The coalition air strikes seem to have helped the rebels turn the tide against his forces, but Gaddafi says they have killed civilians. French forces said on Saturday that they had destroyed seven Libyan aircraft -- five planes and two helicopters -- in the western town of Misrata, where pro-Gaddafi units have mounted an assault to try to oust rebels. FROM AFGHANISTAN TO LIBYA
The nuclear-powered Charles de Gaulle is France's only operational aircraft carrier. Its 2,000 sailors have had little rest since a previous mission supporting the decade-old campaign in Afghanistan ended in February. A map of Libya has replaced the contours of Afghanistan on the walls and monitors of the carrier's radar room.
"At least we're being put to good use," said Jordan, a quartermaster. It is business as usual for most sailors, he added, even if officers "up there" might be feeling the stress. For now, officers are satisfied with the mission's progress, though they are wary of Gaddafi's ability to surprise. "This isn't a mission that is particularly problematic, aside from the fact that we have no room for error," said the carrier's commander Jean-Philippe Rolland.
As for the pilots, the mission has become almost like home. "Getting into the cockpit is like getting into bed at night," said a Super Etendard fighter pilot. "It's a place we know very well." Even at night, the Charles de Gaulle is abuzz with activity.
"It's an airfield, an airport, an airbase, a city of 2,000 people, two nuclear reactors, all in a tin can," a sailor said.
Although officers have the luxury of using the carrier's lifts, sailors are forced to run up and down between decks. In a world without windows, morale is kept up in recreation areas, where telephones, the Internet and television offer contact with the outside world. Een Turkse veerboot is vertrokken naar Misrata om daar enkele honderden gewonde Libirs op te halen. Ook brengt het schip artsen, twee ambulances en twee ton medicijnen naar de westelijke havenstad. Het leger van kolonel Kadhafi heeft de aanvallen op de Libische kuststad Misrata hervat. De opstandelingen in de stad melden dat de stad en haven worden bestookt. Daarmee komt er een eind aan een korte gevechtspauze, na de aanvallen van westerse troepen.
De opstandelingen rukken westwaarts op. Ze hebben de oliestad Ras Lanuf weer in handen, nadat Kadhafi's troepen zonder slag of stoot waren vertrokken. Ook Bin Lawad, Brega en Uqaylia zijn weer in handen van de opstandelingen. Libyan rebels have retaken more territory from government forces. But in the town of Misrata a doctor tells Channel 4 News he is struggling to treat the number of civilians injured by Gaddafi troops.
The speed of the rebel advance suggests a rapid retreat by Gaddafi's forces after they lost Ajdabiya. In Brega, an oil town west of Ajdabiya, rebel fighters were distributing water from trucks to residents or picking over debris of ammunition boxes and tank parts abandoned by the Gaddafi forces. There were long queues at fuel stations.
A man who said he worked for the state-owned Sirte Oil Company but refused to give his name said Gaddafi troops had passed through without stopping and there had been no fighting. Associated Press BRUSSELS (AP) — NATO's top decision-making body is likely to expand on Sunday the alliance's air mission over Libya to allow strikes against Moammar Gadhafi's military.
After nearly a week of deliberations, the North Atlantic Council agreed Friday that NATO should enforce a no-fly zone in keeping with a U.N. Security Council mandate. But the decision to also allow air strikes — which the United States-led international force has been conducting since last week — was postponed until today's meeting to allow the 28 national envoys to consult with their capitals.
Washington has been eager to hand off responsibility for air strikes to the alliance, whose military staff have already drawn up the necessary operational plans. An official who spoke under the usual condition of anonymity said the council may issue an order to execute those plans late Sunday or during a follow-on meeting on Monday.
The air strikes are intended to protect civilians from Gadhafi's forces. However, they have also tipped the balance away from his regular military to the lightly armed rebels, although the two sides remain at stalemate in key cities.
The U.N. authorized the operation to protect Libyan civilians after Gadhafi launched attacks against anti-government protesters who demanded that he step down after 42 years in power
NATO expects to start enforcing the U.N.-authorized no-fly zone on Sunday or Monday, as well as coordinating naval patrols in the Mediterranean to enforce a U.N. arms embargo against Gadhafi's forces.
A Canadian three-star general, Charles Bouchard, is expected to take charge. He will report to an American admiral, Samuel Locklear, commander of NATO's Allied Joint Force Command Naples.
NATO has significant experience in such operations. It's warplanes successfully enforced a no-fly zone over Bosnia in the early 1990s and bombed Serbian forces in Kosovo in 1999 in an effort to end crackdowns on ethnic Albanian civilians.

BENGHAZI - De Libische rebellen beginnen vanaf volgende week de export van olie. Een woordvoerder van de rebellen meldde zondag een handelsovereenkomst met Qatar te hebben gesloten.
De rebellen verwachten dat ze tussen de 100.000 en 130.000 vaten per dag kunnen produceren en dit eventueel kunnen verhogen naar 300.000 vaten per dag.
Eerder op de dag werd bekend dat de Britten de controle over de oliehandel in Libi zullen overnemen.
Diplomatiek conflict
Met dit besluit creren de Britten een diplomatiek conflict, aangezien veel Arabische landen vrezen dat het Westen alleen genteresseerd is in de olie van Libi. Qatar en Groot-Brittanni behoren tot de grootste medestanders van de rebellen.

BRUSSELS, March 27 (Reuters) - NATO states could agree in hours for the alliance to take over command of military operations in Libya from coalition forces, a NATO official said on Sunday.
The agreement could be reached at a meeting of NATO ambassadors which started at 1600 GMT, the official said, adding that the military committee of the 28-nation alliance had finalised its operations plan.
"That's a good sign," the official said. "Either the operations plan is approved by the ambassadors tonight, or that may happen tomorrow. Either way, it's a matter of hours."
An agreement by ambassadors would mean the council of the NATO states would take political control of all military operations, including ground strikes to protect civilians, from a coalition led by France, the United States and Britain.
However, a high-level body to include Arab states, expected to emerge from an international conference in London on Tuesday, would give "broad political guidance", the official said.
A decision for NATO to take over military operations has been delayed by disagreements between NATO members France and Turkey over political control of the mission, but these differences appear to have narrowed.
U.S Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told ABC News in an interview she expected a "positive" decision for NATO to take over the mission.
"Just as the arms embargo and the no-fly zone has been transitioned to NATO command and control, the civilian protection mission will as well," she said.
U.S. Defence Secretary Robert Gates said on U.S. television the United States would begin reducing the military forces it had committed to the Libya mission "beginning this week or within the next week or so".
Both Clinton and Gates raised the possibility that Muammar Gaddafi's regime could splinter and said the London conference would discuss political strategies to end his 41-year rule.
FRENCH, TURKISH DIFFERENCES
French President Nicholas Sarkozy has said France wants the alliance's command and control "machinery" used to coordinate the air campaign, while political control rests in the hands of the members of the coalition.
Turkey has wanted to be able to use its NATO veto to limit allied operations against Libya's infrastructure and avoid casualties among Muslim civilians.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters on Thursday Turkey's fears had been addressed and command of military operations would be transferred completely to NATO.
But a Turkish foreign ministry official said on Friday Turkey wanted to be part of the steering group expected to be set up in London and have a role in political decision-making.
Turkey's minister for EU affairs, Egemen Bagis, told reporters at the Brussels Forum conference on Sunday that discussion on NATO's future role was ongoing, adding: "Turkey is entitled to express her views and help shape policies."
Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and Davutoglu are both expected to attend the London meeting and Daniel Keohane of the European Institue for Security Studies said Turkey would want to ensure in any NATO agreement that it can exert some control over how a NATO mission picks its targets.
British Defence Minister Liam Fox told the BBC that if a political agreement was reached, it would see NATO take over military operations in coming days.
"(It) doesn't actually mean that NATO will take over immediately. There's an execution directive ... if that's successful tonight, over the next few days NATO will take complete command."
The NATO official said a handover to NATO command would take 48-72 hours.
NATO has said its no-fly zone in Libya, which it agreed to enforce on Thursday, would be "impartial", and would ban flights both by Gaddafi's forces and his opponents, as would NATO enforcement on an arms embargo.
Keohane said that with rebel forces advancing, problems could arise if they closed in on Tripoli as fighting there could result in large numbers of casualties and there would be an increased risk of civilian casualties from any air strikes.
"And if rebel forces were seen to be seeking revenge on Gaddafi supporters, it could cause huge political problems for the alliance," he said, "because the U.N. mandate to protect civilians should apply across the board." (Editing by Andrew Roche)hoezo adhd ?quote:BBC

"They are dropping their weapons, their uniforms and dressing as civilians," he added. Some rebels feared that government troops might be hiding in people's homes.

SIRTE - Een konvooi met militaire voertuigen van de Libische leider Kaddafi heeft de stad Sirte verlaten en begeeft zich richting de hoofdstad Tripoli, in het westen van het land.
Dat meldde een verslaggever van het persbureau Reuters zondagavond. Kaddafi is geboren in de omgeving van Sirte.
