The protests continued in Daraa today following a funeral for another young man killed in the protests in the weekend. According to AFP a 11 years old boy was killed today in Daraa and by experience this will escalate things more and more. Daraa is under heavy siege from the security forces. Again it seems that there are some difficulties in communication. Yesterday there was news that the protesters destroyed the statue of Hafez Al Assad and torched the Baath HQ and other official buildings. There is contradicting news concerning the Baath HQ and official buildings though as people saying who torched the court building were actually police officers and soldiers.

Here are more videos from Syria from the past few days which unfortunately cant find a way to the TVs now as they are busy covering Libya and Yemen and also geopolitics play a role here. There is a news that a delegation from Syrians living in Qatar wanted to meet the Al Jazeera officials but failed to do so. I think they wanted to express their objection for what they consider a bias coverage.

Here is a protest in a city near Damascus in solidarity with Daraa today

There are reports about people being detained every day , hundreds allegedly were arrested in the past few days. Some are speaking about anti-regime graffiti spreading in Syrian towns , for example in the city of Kafr Nabl where there were anti-graffiti all over the city and also many men were reportedly arrested last night as well.
I think there will be a protest in front of the Syrian embassy in Cairo tomorrow at 1 PM. Tomorrow there will be a protest planned in Damascus in solidarity with Daraa at 12 PM Damascus local time. The activists are asking the people in twitter and Facebook to spread the protests in order to make it difficult for the security forces.

Separately, activists said an 11-year-old boy died on Monday after injuries he suffered when security forces dispersed an earlier demonstrations in the city.

More protests
Protesters have been demonstrating in Daraa since Friday, calling for an end to corruption and 48 years of emergency law. Rallies intensified after five civilians were killed on the first day of protests. On Sunday crowds set fire to the courthouse and other buildings, including the headquarters of the ruling Baath party. Smaller protests have been held in Jasim and Inkhil, near Daraa, and other Syrian cities including the capital, Damascus, and the Kurdish city of Qamishli.

"Eleven people were detained Friday after a demonstration outside the Omayyed mosque in Damascus, and several others were arrested in the port city of Banias," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The protests are becoming a major challenge for Bashar al-Assad, Syria's president, as activists inspired by the revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt call for action. Haitham al-Maleh, an 80-year-old lawyer and a prominent activist, said the ruling hierarchy was incapable of launching the political reforms that could avert a crisis. "All the Syrian provinces will erupt. There is near consensus that this regime is unsustainable. The masses do not want it," he told Reuters in an interview. "Corruption has eaten the system to the bone. The security apparatus is not accountable to any law."

Maleh, who has spent many years in jail and was released two weeks ago under an amnesty for
elderly prisoners, said Syria needed to curb its pervasive security apparatus, develop the rule of law, free thousands of political prisoners, allow freedom of expression, and reveal the fate of tens of thousands of dissenters who disappeared in the 1980s. (Al Jazeera)

Weapons were found on an Iranian cargo plane forced to land in southeast Turkey on Saturday, Turkish media reported Tuesday. According to reports, the arms plane left Tehran with military ammunition for Syria. Several crates containing weapons and ammunition were removed from the aircraft.
Turkish media reported that the plane was forced to land in a military airfield at the United Nations' request following information indicating it was carrying nuclear materials. It was further reported that rocket launchers, mortars, rifles and explosive materials were found in one of the main cabinets on the plane.

Turkish newspapers stated this was the first time that a plane was forced to land in such circumstances since 2006.

Last Wednesday, another Iranian plane was forced to land in Turkey. The Turkish foreign ministry said at the time no suspicious materials were found. (via)
