First of all, I would like to thank each and every one of you for making my last ten years the richest, most fun and educating time in my life. I have learned more about music, life and myself the past ten years than I could ever dream of, and I am forever grateful for what you all have given me.
Ten years - a decade. Approximately a third of my life.
In April last year, I told the girls that the 10 Years Anniversary Winter Tour, would be my last Katzenjammer tour. There are no hard feelings, or any drama at all behind this decision. It's just time.
Those of you who know me well, know that I was all ready writing and performing my own music a while before I joined Katzenjammer in 2005. I managed to record and release "Images Under Construction" as Dandylion - almost as a pure necessity - in 2011/12, our most busy time as Katzenjammer ever. Practically, it shouldn't have been possible, but I probably would have exploded if I didn't. You could say I was sorting out my musical attic in a way. Tiding up old and new material, hundreds of songs that had been stocking up over years and years.
Now, every tone inside me is telling me that I need to let go of Katzenjammer to fully embrace the music that is playing inside me, and has been playing for so long. It's a matter of dedication, you see. Music is located in every inch of my body. And now, this music requires all of my time. It wouldn't feel fair to anyone to continue doing something else. Kinda like cheating. Both to you beautiful people, to the girls- but first of all to myself, and the music.
I am prepared to regret my decision. I am prepared to loose a lot of friends and listeners. And I am prepared not to succeed. But that is not the motivation behind my decision either. Like I said, it's just time.
I love the girls to death, and I'm extremely proud of, and thankful for, what we have accomplished together. I will never regret saying yes to join the band ten years ago, and be without all the amazing things we've experienced together.
I wish them nothing but the best, and there is no doubt in my heart they will keep on rocking just as loud without me.
All though I completely understand if you wanna get off here, I want you to know you're all more than welcome to join me on the next part of my journey.
So once again, thank you for everything. You have all had a significant influence in my life.
