Kaká, die maandag duidelijkheid zal geven over zijn toekomst, moet immers ongeveer 65 miljoen euro kosten en Manchester United zal Ronaldo ook niet voor een habbekrats laten vertrekken. De Portugese dribbelaar was vorig seizoen al dichtbij een transfer naar Madrid, bereikte zelfs een persoonlijk akkoord met Real, maar zag een overgang uiteindelijk toch afketsen. Na de verloren Champions League-finale tegen Barcelona liet hij ruimte voor speculaties: “Of ik volgend seizoen nog bij Manchester speel? Dat weet ik niet.”

“Ik ga er serieus werk van maken”, zei Pérez, die verder ook geďnteresseerd is in Xabi Alonso van Liverpool en Franck Ribéry van Bayern München. “Kaká, Ronaldo en Lionel Messi zijn de drie beste voetballers van de wereld. Dzeko, 23, scored 30 goals this season to fire Wolfsburg to the Bundesliga title. City manager Mark Hughes has had the 6ft 3in Bosnian striker scouted several times recently and, with doubts over Santa Cruz's fitness record and a reluctance to trigger the Ł18 million escape clause in the Paraguayan's contract, Dzeko has emerged as a viable alternative.

Hughes remains hopeful of capitalising on Samuel Eto'o's contract stalemate at Barcelona by tempting the European champions with a Ł25 million offer for the Cameroon forward and is waiting on Carlos Tevez to decide his Manchester United future before moving for the Argentine.

City's shortage of a physical presence up front was a regular complaint from Hughes last season, and he has made it a priority to sign a recognised target man.

Blackburn are understood to be ready to part with Santa Cruz and City could yet tempt Rovers manager Sam Allardyce with a bid in the region of Ł12 million.

Santa Cruz remains Hughes's preferred option, with his Premier League experience edging him ahead of Dzeko. But the Bosnia international has built a formidable reputation in Germany, where he was recently voted the Bundesliga's Player of the Year.

He has also proved his credentials on the international stage by scoring seven goals for his country during the World Cup qualifying campaign.

Former Manchester United forward Diego Forlan has been linked with City in recent weeks, but the Atletico Madrid forward's agent, Daniel Bolotnikoff, has insisted that the Uruguayan has received no offers and is happy at Atletico.

Having thrashed out a Ł25 million, three-year shirt sponsorship deal with Etihad Airlines last month, City have confirmed a Ł50 million, 10-year shirt deal with Umbro.

Manchester City are ready to take advantage of an Anfield feud to snatch midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Alonso has had an icy relationship with fellow Spaniard Rafa Benitez, ever since Liverpool boss Benitez tried to sell him last summer.

Now, the Mirror can reveal that Alonso heads the list of players wanted by the super-rich Manchester club, and manager Mark Hughes even placed him ahead of Gareth Barry as a target.

The City boss wants the pair to form the fulcrum of his midfield, and he is ready to capitalise on a breakdown of the relationship between Alonso and his boss to try to tempt him with a Ł20million bid.

Alonso lost faith in Benitez when he tried to sell him behind his back last summer, and when it seemed the same would happen at the end of this season, he resolved to find himself another club.

There has already been contact from Real Madrid, and while – contrary to reports – there has yet to be a concrete bid from the Bernabeu, it seems certain they will follow up interest with an offer in the region of Ł18m.

But the politics at Anfield will prevent a swift conclusion to any deal, and that will allow City the chance to tempt Alonso with a massive deal.

After Benitez was heavily criticised for trying to sell Alonso last summer, the player has been his most consistent performer.

And the Anfield boss knows he would look bad if he blithely went ahead with a sale. Instead, canny Benitez wants Alonso to ask for a move, absolving him of all blame from the fans for the loss of such a popular player, but the midfielder is reluctant to do that, because he feels he has been forced out. Alonso’s first choice would still be a move back to Spain with either Madrid or Barcelona, who are also monitoring the situation, but City have the financial clout to make him think again.

They gave Barry a staggering contract worth almost Ł100,000 a week, and given their desire to land Alonso, they would be prepared to top anything Real could offer.

He and his family are happy in the north west of England, and until the end of the season he wanted to remain at Anfield, before tiring of the Kop politics.

Signing for City would allow him to stay where he is settled, and would also offer the huge incentive of a deal that could be worth in the region of an amazing Ł30m.

His departure though, will leave Benitez in a difficult situation. The Liverpool boss was caught napping by City over Barry, and he has no obvious alternative as a replacement for Alonso.

Benitez will have in the region of Ł50m to spend if he sells Alonso. He wants Valencia winger David Silva, and the rest of that figure will have to be diverted to a replacement in midfield, leaving little for a striker or the two defenders that are also on his wish-list.

At least two Eredivisie teams and one La Liga team are now sizing up the U.S. international, who has reportedly been told he is free to find a new employer.

"He has interest from all over," Lyle Yorks confirmed to Soccer365. "There's a team in Spain and teams in Holland."

The lead suspect in the Netherlands is former club PSV Eindhoven, who are now under the leadership of familiar face Fred Rutten. The new boss was Guus Hiddink's assistant during Beasley's two season with the Farmers and attempted to swing a deal for the speedster last season while in charge of Schalke 04.

Primarily a midfielder, Yaya's performances with the European Champions this season have seen him adapt well to a role in central defence and could see him and his brother complete half of Wenger's backline.

And the younger of the two has made no secret of his desire to play with his older sibling.

"It's true that it would be great to play for a big club with my brother, " he told the Sun. "That would be fantastic but you never know."

It is not the first time Yaya has been linked with Arsenal. In 2005 he had a trial with the then Highbury-based outfit but failed to land himself a permanent deal and found himself playing at Olympiacos instead.

Wenger reignited his interest in this year's January transfer window, but Yaya made it clear that, despite the interest being very flattering, he wanted to complete the season under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.

Also on the Arsenal radar is Wolfsburg's Bundesliga Player of the Year Edin Dzeko.

At Ł12 million, the sought-after striker has also attracted interest from Manchester City, but according to the Mail Arsenal carry the upper hand with the opportunity for Champions League football.

Wenger's interest in other forwards adds fuel to speculation linking Emmanuel Adebayor with a summer exit and casts further doubt over the future of Robin van Persie, who is yet to sign a new contract.

Bentley joined Tottenham last year for a fee of Ł15 million after they successfully outbid Villa to land his signature.

However, despite early promise, Bentley has failed to live up to expectations in North London and has seen his place in the England squad squandered as a result.

In all, Bentley played just 24 times for Tottenham last season and is currently out of favour with Redknapp, who will reportedly listen to offers as he seeks to accumulate more money to fund his own rebuilding plans.

However, it is highly unlikely that Tottenham will receive the full Ł15 million back and Villa manager Martin O’Neill would not be prepared to go above Ł10 million, according to a report in the Star newspaper.

O’Neill is prepared to give Bentley a second chance but only if the price and terms are favourable to Villa, with Bentley’s temperament as much as his ability a cause for concern.

The Villa manager has been promised a sizeable transfer fund to build a team to make another assault on the top four of the Premier League next season.

Owner randy Lerner will hand O’Neill around Ł30 million and the Ł12 million received from Manchester City for Gareth Barry will also be channelled in to the squad.

O’Neill has already made enquiries about Middlesbrough pair David Wheater and Stewart Downing.

The 22-year-old has made 17 league starts for Udinese this season and his performances for the Bianconeri have not gone unnoticed.

"Juventus, Fiorentina, Milan, Arsenal and Villarreal have requested information about me," said Zapata. "There are many teams that are keen to sign me but an official offer has not been made so far.

"I think if a good offer arrives then Udinese will have to consider it. But the club don't need to sell me immediately."

Udinese reportedly turned down a Ł9.5million bid from Arsenal for Zapata last summer because they felt the sum was "inappropriate".

The Colombia international joined the Italian outfit in 2005 from home club Deportivo Cali and is under contract until June 2013.

Despite Zapata's comments however, only last month Udinese's general director Pietro Leonardo categorically denied that the player would be leaving this summer.

“Even I read this news on the newspapers, but I say it with sincerity: no one called me up from Florence to have information on our players and in particular for Zapata, these are just rumours," he said.

“The lad has a contract with Udinese until 2013. We cannot do more than this. I think that the club’s position is quite clear with regards to the player.”

FC Twente had vorige week een gesprek met Roland Gercaliu van Red Bull Salzburg. Dat meldt AD/Sportwereld vrijdagavond. De linksback van de Oostenrijkse landskampioen is naar verluidt bij de Enschedeërs in beeld om het aanstaande vertrek van Edson Braafheid naar Bayern München op te vangen.


Volgens het dagblad staat de 23-jarige Oostenrijks international, die oorspronkelijk uit Albanië afkomstig is, in de belangstelling van meerdere clubs uit het buitenland. De veertienvoudig international speelt sinds het seizoen 2003/2004 in de Bundesliga. Hij verdedigde eveneens de clubkleure van Austria Wien en Sturm Graz.

Afgelopen week werd Eliseu Pereira dos Santos, voetbalnaam Eliseu, aan de club uit Twente gelinkt. De vleugelaanvaller van Málaga is in beeld als opvolger van Eljero Elia, die alom begeerd wordt, maar kan ook naar de Premier League verkassen. Het contract van de 25-jarige Portugees in Andalusië loopt nog een seizoen door.

DaMarcus Beasley staat mogelijk voor een terugkeer naar de Nederlandse eredivisie. De oud-speler van PSV mag vertrekken bij Glasgow Rangers en staat volgens zijn zaakwaarnemer op de lijstjes van enkele Nederlandse clubs.

De meest concrete belangstelling zou van PSV zijn. Fred Rutten wilde Beasley afgelopen zomer al naar Schalke 04 halen en maakt er geen geheim van graag nog een extra vleugelspits aan zijn selectie toe te voegen.
