The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded wide receiver Dennis Northcutt to the Detroit Lions in exchange for safety Gerald Alexander, according to multiple sources

Northcutt was informed during the week he was going to be traded. The Lions showed interest but didn't want to give up a draft choice. Once they talked to the Jaguars, the Lions decided to offer Alexander in a straight player-for-player deal.

The trade was agreed to on Friday and is expected to be finalized next week. The irony of the trade is that Northcutt and Alexander are represented by the same agent, Jerome Stanley, who was surprised to find out Alexander was involved in the trade.

Northcutt was the most productive remaining wide receiver on the Jaguars. Northcutt caught 44 passes for 545 yards last season in Jacksonville. Also gone from the Jaguars receiving corps are Matt Jones and Reggie Williams.

The 31-year-old Northcutt will be joining his third team. He has been with the Browns and Jaguars.

Alexander, 24, is entering his third season. He started 16 games in 2007 but only started one game last season.

Another Twitter imposter

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Davone Bess is seeking to press charges against someone who was impersonating him on a Twitter site. Bess says that the Twitter feeds that were made in his name by “LamboWeezy” have no connection to him, and Bess’ agent, Kenny Zuckerman, has alerted the authorities to the incident.

In an email, Zuckerman writes that this Twitter site is 100 percent fake, and Bess plans to “prosecute this imposter to the fullest extent of the law. Fraud is fraud, and we are going to protect Davone and his reputation at any cost.”

Fans on a Dolphins message board began to doubt the validity of the statements made on the Twitter site, where the impersonator was also answering fan questions, according to Zuckerman. A representative of a Dolphins blog called “The Phinsider” brought the Twitter site to Zuckerman’s attention.

Bess is a second-year player out of Hawaii who caught one touchdown in 16 games in 2008.

Several cases like this have made the news lately, with St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa recently reaching a settlement after suing Twitter over a fake account made in his name, according to the Associated Press.

Harvin reported for the start of the symposium Sunday afternoon but after notifying the medical staff that he was not feeling well, it was recommended that he return home. Harvin was officially excused by organizers.

Symposium officials said that all 256 draft picks had reported Sunday.

This is the second time Harvin has become ill after traveling this offseason. He missed the Vikings initial rookie minicamp in May when he was hospitalized for a virus and severe dehydration after vomiting on a flight from Florida to Atlanta on his way to Minnesota.

En het valt ook wel eens voor dat een speler voor verschillende sporten gedraft wordt. Zo was Tom Brady het jaar voordat hij door New England gedraft werd als QB, al eens gedraft als pitcher in de MLB ( baseball ). Dit jaar gebeurde het weer met Pat White, die in de tweede ronde gedraft werd door de Miami Dolphins maar ook in de 48e (!) ronde van de MLB draft door de New York Yankees. Andersom is ook mogelijk: Charlie Ward won de Heismann Trophy als quarterback, maar koos uiteindelijk voor een carrière als point guard in de NBA.

As he dozed on a sofa early Saturday, Kazemi shot him in the head, then twice in the chest, then again in the head.

Serpas said detectives learned that Kazemi recently found out about another young woman she thought McNair was romantically involved with and had even followed that woman home, though she did not confront her.

Kazemi's family told reporters that the woman was so confident McNair was divorcing his wife of 12 years that she was preparing to sell her furniture and move in with him.

But Mike Mu, who has worked with McNair's charitable association for years, said earlier Wednesday that McNair's wife, Mechelle McNair, "didn't know who this girl is." No records of divorce proceedings have surfaced. The McNairs have four children.
