Tja Merriman is er snel achter gekomen dat splen met de gedachte dat als je iets te veel vraagt van je knieen het einde carriere kan zijn, niet echt fijn is en (bewust of niet) je je toch gaat inhouden.

Aan de ene kant snap ik dat wel met die druk enzo, maar aan de andere kant ook weer niet. Die jongen speelt al tientallen jaren football. Young ging naar Texas en bij zo'n team moet de druk ook wekelijks enorm geweest zijn.

2005 was een heel mager jaar voor qb's in de draft. Alex Smith ging als eerste, Aaron Rodgers als 24e, Jason Campbell als 25e, Charlie Frye als 68e en Andrew Walter als 69e. Dat waren de quarterbacks in de eerste drie ronden.
Met de kennis van nu hadden ze beter kunnen wachten tot de 6e ronde. Derek Anderson ging er als 212e uit. Het blijft een gok, zo'n draftpick. Het zijn niet allemaal spelers zoals Peyton Manning. Helaas voor de 49'ers.
