Welkom bij deel 27 van de Google Earth Quiz, Wereld Editie
Google Earth is tof, Google Earth is de hele aarde in satellietfoto\'s. En daar is uiteraard een leuk spel van te maken.
De Spelregels
Maak een screenshot van een opvallende en/of bekende plek ergens op de wereld in Google Earth (of de webvariant ervan op Google Maps) en laat anderen raden wat er precies wordt getoond. Degene met het goede antwoord maakt een nieuwe opgave. Je mag zo ver inzoomen als je zelf wilt, maar hou het wel een beetje herkenbaar. Het is dus fair als je Noord boven laat op de foto.
De plaatser keurt de antwoorden goed of fout, niet naderhand je post editten!
We spelen in dit topic om punten. De punten worden na sluiting van het topic getelt en in de Wiki gezet.

Ik vind het niet leuk meer! Zie net de opgave voor het eerst (heb er de halve avond op zitten wachten) en wist meteen dat het Carmel (en Eastwood) was.
Ik heb er op 1 augustus 's middags nog op het strand gepicknicked en nog in de oceaan (koud) gestaan!

The Arktikum in Rovaniemi provides a unique insight into the way of life, culture and history of the North. It is a museum, science centre, popular cultural venue with impressive meeting and congress facilities and an architectural sight in its own right.

The Arktikum was designed by the Danish architects Birch-Bonderup & Thorup-Waade. The crescent-shaped new building was designed by Bonderup and Lehtipalo and it was completed in autumn 1997.
Plenty of local natural building materials have been used in the building: the floors are made from Perttaus granite – the hardest type available in Finland – and from lime-washed Lappish pine. The chairs are made from birch and reindeer hide.
The visible part of the museum, the glass tube, is 172 metres long in all and it is dissected by the 30-metre wide highway to Kittilä. It is covered with around one thousand panes of toughened glass, each two square metres in size. The tube serves as the “Gateway to the North”, as the entrance foyer is at the southern end and the other end faces north. The exhibition space is sheltered below the ground, mimicking the way nature in the North takes cover from the harsh, cold winter.

Walk on past Naylors and Corbett's Wharf. As you come past National Terrace (a late twentieth century development on your left) you come to an open space. To the left of the space you will find a sculpture by Diane Gorvin 'Dr Salter's Dream'. Alfred Salter looks at his daughter (who died age nine). Their cat looks on. (This piece was originally on the promenade by Cherry Gardens - but local residents complained that the sculpture had become a gathering place for young people - so it was moved!)
