A source revealed: “The tour is bigger than anything the band have done before. They will be on the road for more than a year — possibly pushing 18 months. The dates could easily run into three figures and will take them around the world. It is on the kind of scale you would expect from THE ROLLING STONES. The fellas who have hatched the plan are very proud and excited.”

Scraps

I hope the Oasis lads have their hard hats ready. It’s a hell of a long time for volatile brothers NOEL and LIAM GALLAGHER to spend together on the road. The band have had a fair few scraps on their travels. In a 1996 tour of the US the band nearly split up as Liam and Noel’s fighting reached new levels. And they haven’t mellowed quite yet either.

Noel showed how he can still dish it out with a cutting jibe at ex-drummer TONY McCARROLL. Talking to the NME magazine about how new sticksman CHRIS SHARROCK was fitting in, Noel said: “The first few weeks I felt for him because he’s got to drum like four people. “He’s gotta play like our old drummers Tony McCarroll, ALAN WHITE and ZAK STARKEY and, of course, himself. To play drums in Oasis is deceptively difficult. You can’t play like THE WHO’s KEITH MOON, particularly on the older stuff, because it wasn’t about drums. On Lyla and tracks like that you can pretend to be Moon. But the older stuff you’ve got to pretend you’re Tony McCarroll. Sit there and be crap with a s**t haircut.”
