Jammer dat de eerste reviews niet positief zijn (heb ze niet nauwkeurig gelezen, om spoilers te vermijden). Maar het zal niet de eerste keer zijn dat een film erg veel "kinetische energie" geneert, om uiteindelijk in de ogen van velen teleur te stellen, terwijl ik het gewoon wel een toffe film vond ( 
X-Men 3 ). Dus ik houd hoop, mede dankzij mijn niet al te hoge standaarden

Ik denk niet dat met oscarmateriaal technische awards worden bedoeld. Anders is Pearl Harbor ook oscarmateriaal. Zelfs Norbit bijna .

FOXNews.com caught up with George Lucas at Cannes who had a lot to say about the new Indy film and its future.
"I haven’t even told Steven or Harrison this," he said. "But I have an idea to make Shia [LaBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out." ( NEEEE!!!!

"And it’s not like Harrison is even old. I mean, he’s 65 and he did everything in this movie. The old chemistry is there, and it’s not like he’s an old man. He’s incredibly agile; he looks even better than he did 20 years ago, if you ask me."
MTV already went looking for reactions to this idea of Ford being reduced to a sidekick in the Indiana Jones 5, and returns with responses by stars Harrison Ford and Shia LaBeouf themselves.
"I have no cheeky answer for [that]. I just work here. I'm glad to work here," Ford told MTV News at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday (May 16). "Till they tell me otherwise, I will continue to be Indiana Jones."
"I know Harrison would love to," LaBeouf countered, smiling. "I know that Harrison, when he's 80, will still be jacked. Is there going to be an 80-year-old Indiana Jones? No one can say never."
There's actually already been a 93-year-old Indiana Jones, portrayed by George Hall in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, which ran on TV from 1992 to 1993. But while those episodes didn't have Harrison Ford (save for one) they still heavily centered on the character he helped create — he wasn't regulated to second-fiddle status.
For fans, then, the issue leading up to the release of Crystal Skull is whether or not Indy without Indy is still Indy — the reasonable assumption being that a Mutt film is only as strong as Mutt himself.
Is Mutt a good enough character to take center stage? LaBeouf said it's up to the fans, who will ultimately choose the fate of Indiana Jones with their reception of Crystal Skull. Choose ... wisely.
"Mutt's pretty wild [but] it's all about what the public feels," LaBeouf said. "I know if it's received well, that's a pretty definite indicator. If it's received well, I don't imagine they would stop making them."
"I don't think a Mutt spin-off would be as big as Indiana Jones," he added, coyly. "[But] fingers crossed!"

Ja, die uitspraak van Lucas begrijp ik ook niet helemaal. Ik juig elke sequel hard toe en ik beslis na hem gezien te hebben wel of het wel of niet leuk was. Maar Harrison Ford als Indiana tot een bijrol maken in z'n eigen films is toch wel heel erg raar. Al mocht het ooit zo ver komen, dan denk ik dat Lucas niet helemaal door heeft hoe iconisch Ford als Indy is als een karakter. Hij maakte de drie, en hopelijk vier, films.

All the classic ingredients are thrown into the mix - murky temples with devilish contraptions, ancient pictographs scrawled on walls, and horrible creepy-crawlies scurrying over the imperilled heroine.
Director Steven Spielberg has largely jettisoned computer generated effects (much to the chagrin of tech freak Lucas) with the result that the film's action sequences have a visceral, physical quality you rarely find in modern-day blockbusters.
As ever, Spielberg brings both humour and visual flair to sequences where other films are happy to provide mere spectacle.
But this is no Phantom Menace or Godfather III. The quality control has been maintained, despite the 19-year wait.

Spielberg’s most remarkable achievement is to retain most of the old-fashioned virtues of the original franchise. He is light on the digital buttons, and the swashbuckling is truly great. Harrison Ford, amazingly enough, performs most of his utterly barmy stunts; the actor is in damn good shape for a 65-year-old professor. The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is, quite simply, exquisite nonsense. Welcome back Indy. Lord knows we’ve missed you.
Time Magazine: There's a moment in the film where Mutt sees Indy negotiate some really cool bit of action, and the kid can't help mouth a "Wow." That's the right response to this inevitable summer blockbuster. Lucas, Spielberg and Ford ain't the Over the Hill Gang yet.
Empire Online: More will be revealed in Empire's official review, which we'll post in the morning, but for now, it's safe to say that Indy tamed Cannes, an obstinate crowd at the best of times. the biggest surprise is the look of Indy 4. Beautifully shot by Janusz Kaminszki, the style here is pastel-hued 50s, and the structure of the film follows suit. As promised by Lucas and Spielberg, the film has followed Indy into a new decade, with the Cold War on the rise, the American public looking for “Commies in their soup”, and the nuclear family becoming the norm (a gag the film literally riffs on). Gone is the pulpy Republic serial looks of the originals, in their place a sophisticate, brightly lit sheen, with nods to 50s films as diverse as The Wrong Man and Vertigo. Older readers might go so far as to liken it, in look, to the adventures that Fritz Lang made when he went back to work Germany in the late 50s: The Tiger Of Eschnapur and The Indian Tomb. So what to give away? Well, let's not talk about specifics, but the rate of beats, and they come thick and fast.

Spielberg wil nog een Indiana Jones maken
CANNES - Steven Spielberg zou graag nog een Indiana Jones-films maken. Dat liet hij weten op het jaarlijkse filmfestival in Cannes, nadat zijn nieuwe film 'Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' daar voor het eerst werd vertoond. Als er belangstelling is, begint hij er graag weer aan, aldus de BBC. Spielberg was met acteurs Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett en Shia LaBeouf aanwezig op de première in de Zuid-Franse badplaats.
Uit de eerste reacties van de filmrecensenten op het filmfestival in Cannes blijkt inderdaad dat die belangstelling er is. De critici reageerden enthousiast dat de grappige avonturier na 19 jaar weer terug is op het witte doek.
Wel wordt er veel gegrapt over de leeftijd van hoofdrolspeler Harrison Ford, die inmiddels 65 jaar is. De filmmakers namen zijn leeftijd ook niet al te serieus. In The Kindom of the Crystal Skull, wordt Ford's leeftijd regelmatig op de hak genomen. "Not as easy as it used to be", moppert hij bijvoorbeeld als hij bij twee soldaten in een truck binnen springt. CANNES - Steven Spielberg zou graag nog een Indiana Jones-films maken. Dat liet hij weten op het jaarlijkse filmfestival in Cannes, nadat zijn nieuwe film 'Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' daar voor het eerst werd vertoond. Als er belangstelling is, begint hij er graag weer aan, aldus de BBC. Spielberg was met acteurs Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett en Shia LaBeouf aanwezig op de première in de Zuid-Franse badplaats.
Uit de eerste reacties van de filmrecensenten op het filmfestival in Cannes blijkt inderdaad dat die belangstelling er is. De critici reageerden enthousiast dat de grappige avonturier na 19 jaar weer terug is op het witte doek.
Wel wordt er veel gegrapt over de leeftijd van hoofdrolspeler Harrison Ford, die inmiddels 65 jaar is. De filmmakers namen zijn leeftijd ook niet al te serieus. In The Kindom of the Crystal Skull, wordt Ford's leeftijd regelmatig op de hak genomen. "Not as easy as it used to be", moppert hij bijvoorbeeld als hij bij twee soldaten in een truck binnen springt. Je kan natuurlijk ook stellen dat het applaus bescheiden was en de kritieken alles behalve enthousiast. Niet dat dat wat uitmaakt voor de bezoekersaantallen en de waardering van het publiek, de eerste 3 films worden immers ook extreem overgewaardeerd. Hoewel maar weinigen hem echt geniaal vinden, krijgt hij toch overwegend positief commentaar. De Rotten Tomatoes score staat nu op 73%, wat zeker niet verkeerd is. Damn, nog 1 nachtje slapen

Nog niet gevonden, maar ik heb een keer een artikel gelezen waarin gesteld werd dat de 4e Indiana Jones over Atlantis zou gaan, maar dat het script is aangepast om er een McGyver verfilming van te maken. Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford's dashing hero, was infamously named after George Lucas's pet dog. And there were rumours that the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - the fourth movie of the film franchise - was the runt of the litter.
So it came as a surprise to many people in Cannes that the film was so entertaining.
Swashes were buckled, rips were roared and sticks were slapped.
All the classic ingredients are thrown into the mix - murky temples with devilish contraptions, ancient pictographs scrawled on walls, and horrible creepy-crawlies scurrying over the imperilled heroine.
Director Steven Spielberg has largely jettisoned computer generated effects (much to the chagrin of tech freak Lucas) with the result that the film's action sequences have a visceral, physical quality you rarely find in modern-day blockbusters.
As ever, Spielberg brings both humour and visual flair to sequences where other films are happy to provide mere spectacle.
But this is no Phantom Menace or Godfather III. The quality control has been maintained, despite the 19-year wait.

.Maarreh, kut, hoor ik net dat ik naar de voorpremiere mag... is het in Brussel! En uitgerekend de 20e staken ze dus in België wat betreft trein/metro... en een auto zit er effe niet in. Dus hoe ik daar kom? Geen idee... Zal em wel niet worden helaas.
