* Skull-splitter heeft kaartjes voor Henry Rollins van Eric Corton mogen ontvangen
quote:
Man, I feel like a fourteen year old right now. I'll tell you why.
Things looked pretty grimm for me today, had a tough day at work, a bit nervous about my third and final try of my last exam for my police education (have to make it or I'm out, and the devil is in the details with this one) and to put the cherry on top: when I went home I got drenched in the rain while riding the 5 clicks home on my bicycle...
Fortunately I had my radio on my cellphone, so after I first spoke to my girlfriend (who I couldn't really understand what she was saying because of the wind), I hung up and listened to the radio.
A block from my home I heard the DJ say he bought 2 tickets for the Henry Rollins Spoken Word show, Paradiso Amsterdam, Holland. But, he couldn't go because he had his boss at the radio, he had to work that night. He offered his very own, bought, not given, tickets for the person who send him a cellphone message stating "Rollins [insert own name] [insert reason that you need to go]"
I sent them "Rollins, Nol van Meegeren. Got drenched on the way home, but hearing the fact of the Spoken Word makes me smile again. Letters from Boris"
Some songs went by, the DJ spoke about people texting their requests for the remaining minutes of his show, but not a word of Rollins...
But then my phone rang. "Private number" it displayed, meaning only two options: OR it is my boss, telling me to return to the precinct I work, OR it could be the radiostation.
I picked up, said my name and awaited response.
"Hello, with Sylvia..."
Ok, this could be Sylvia of my work, she sounds about the same on the phone, so I awaited more information.
"I'm with 3FM (our national youngest public radiostation) and I call to let you know that the tickets are yours... If you can go, that is..."
-"Well, of course I can go, otherwise I wouldn't have send you my text!"
Sylvia told me it was the "Letters from Boris" part that got me the gig, as Eric Corton, the DJ, instantly knew I was an avid fan of the Rollins repetoire biggrin.gif
Well, I was quite happy as you can tell, and the rest of the conversation was like I already knew the DJ. It appears he lives quite near, and was kind enough to bring them by.
So, indirectly I would like to thank Henry Rollins, for having me fed the Letters from Boris-sketch, Eric Corton of 3FM's 3voor12.nl, for offering his personal tickets to the audience.
I'm really thankfull for this one in a million chance to go see Rollins live, through a competition on a radio station. I rarely participate in such competitions, and have seldomly won a price in lottery or competitions.
Er zullen vast wat fouten in zitten, maar tis laat, kheb gewerkt, ben moe, maar moest dit even kwijt op het engelstalige board...
En Eric, de schat, komt ze waarschijnlijk nog gewoon langsbrengen ook
