Ik hou het maar op The Guardian: "Forensic analysis by retired South African police superintendent Danie Krugel claimed to reveal Madeleine's body had either been temporarily buried or was still beneath the beach at Praia da Luz, the resort from where she disappeared on 3 May." Als alleen de tabloids met dit 'nieuws' waren gekomen had ik het niet eens gemeld.

ik vind die zuid-afrikaan met zijn GPS voor DNA sporen trouwens maar raar. Het word neergezet alsof het een of andere geheime nieuwe techniek is, maar als het dat is, een of andere reproduceerbare techniek, waarom het dan niet op de markt brengen ? Als je bedenkt hoeveel (kinder)leed je met zoiets zou kunnen besparen ..
Of is dit eindelijk een wetenschapper die zowel de voordelen als ook de nadelen van zijn uitvinding ziet en het daarom geheim houdt ?

Ik denk dat The Observer/Guardian misschien iets te vlug is geweest met dit verhaal, hier en daar al gelezen dat die Locater Danie Krugel in de catagorie charlatans niet zou missstaan, we wachten het wel weer af Moussie. Maar misschien is dit dé reden wel: "The university health and safety director refused to reveal how his hi-tech methods work. He said he was currently in negotiations with companies to develop the 'matter orientation system machine', which is said to also use satellite technology." Sky News Geld natuurlijk...

An £80,000 relaunch of the Find Madeleine campaign, due to start this week with posters and billboards in Spain and Portugal and television slots in Morocco, has been delayed for up to two weeks after Spanish and Portuguese supermarkets refused to put up posters of Maddy, saying that there are many missing children and it is unfair to give a foreign child "special treatment".
Sources say the Find Madeleine fund is embroiled in a row with Justine McGuinness, Mr Mitchell's predecessor, over allegations that she claimed an unjustified amount for overtime while working for the McCanns in Portugal.

But a senior source close to the investigation told the Evening Standard that the new DNA results showed the investigation was focused "where it should be".
The revelation of its existence will be a blow to the McCanns who deny any involvement in the disappearance of their daughter. The new positive results have been obtained from analysis of a mass of further material gathered from the McCanns' apartment in Praia da Luz from which she disappeared on 3 May, their hire car and other parts of the Mark Warner holiday complex. Madeleine was six days short of her fourth birthday when she vanished.
The initial police decision to focus on the McCanns followed the arrival in Portugal early last month of a first batch of results sent by the Forensic Science Service. A senior source close to the investigation said: "There is no reason to change the direction of the investigation and everything that has emerged indicates that it is focusing where it should.
"This is a very complex case and forensics are rarely conclusive on their own, but the new material adds to the existing picture that has been built up by police and fills in a few more pieces of the jigsaw." Those involved also point out that all the material sent to Birmingham for testing was gathered by Leicestershire police.
Sources also said the further tests cast into question explanations offered by the McCanns for the original results which are believed to have shown traces of Madeleine's blood in the family apartment and of her bodily fluids in the couple's hire car, rented 25 days after her disappearance. British scientists are understood to be fully confident in their ability to distinguish between Madeleine's DNA and that of her siblings or parents.
Similarly, it is understood that the widely touted theory that her DNA could have been transferred via her toys or clothes in substantial quantities has been fully taken into account. But because blood, bodily fluids and other material can deteriorate rapidly in hot conditions, the quality of some of the DNA matches is not as high as would have been the case if the Portuguese had collected it earlier.
The McCanns insist their daughter could still be alive and are planning to intensify their PR campaign. Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns' spokesman, said today: "There are wholly innocent explanations for any material police may or may not have found."
Sources close to the family have said DNA in the boot of the hire car could have come from Madeleine's clothing or sandals. Leicestershire police said it was not making any public statement on its view of what happened to the toddler. A spokesman said: "Since Madeleine's disappearance British Police have offered advice and support to the Portuguese. A wide range of specialist capabilities have been available for them to use."

Mijn gok is dat de britse overheid, haar werkgever, weigert om die te betalen omdat zij in die uren niet voor de overheid maar voor een particuliere organisatie heeft gewerkt

They just spinning around, from both sides...ondertussen zijn vorige week advocaten van de McCanns naar Portugal geweest om te pleiten dat de status van formeel verdachten wordt opgeheven, 24dash.com:

Toch wel grappig om te zien dat iedereen aan het aftasten is en zich nog iets op de vlakte houdt, de pers is druk aan het speculeren om een antwoord uit te lokken maar het lijkt er op dat er op het moment geen over en weer geroep van incompetentie te forceren is.

wat dat aangaat heb ik best medelijden met de McCanns .. iedere handeling zo onder een vergrootglas gelegd en dan alles negatief uitleggen .. erg lijkt me dat ..
hypothetisch verhaal : stel je voor, je neemt een glaasje wijn bij het eten om die knoop in je maag een beetje te verzachten, en meer dan 2 happen naar binnen te kunnen werken, je hebt je energie immers nodig, je mag niet instorten, je hebt nog 2 kinderen die je nodig hebben .. en dan lees je de volgende dag in de krant dat jij feest aan het vieren bent, gezellig aan het tafelen "net als in de Tapas" .. oid .. erg toch ?
Niet dat dit is gebeurd, maar het zou zo kunnen gebeuren .. is bvb ook gebeurd met die foto in de speeltuin, hoe durven ze "lachend" met de twins te "poseren"

Today it emerged that he is facing trial for inflicting a severe beating on innocent man along with two other police officers.
The Chief Inspector is the second officer involved in the case to be implicated in the violent treatment of police suspects.
Disgraced inquiry head Goncalo Amaral — who was last week spectacularly kicked off the case after he said British police were being manipulated by Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry — is fighting claims he covered up the beating of another missing girl’s mother.
Leonor Cipriano, 36, says she was forced to kneel on glass ashtrays with a bag over her head as police repeatedly hit her during almost 48 hours of questioning.
She is serving 16 years for the murder of her eight-year-old daughter Joana, even though the body has never been found and she has since retracted her statement.
Today, the Portuguese daily newspaper Jornal de Noticias reported that 48-year-old Almeida will face trial over allegations that he beat up a railway worker suspected of being part of a notorious gang who sexually assaulted children in a park and coerced them into mugging people seven years ago.
The suspect, who suffered four broken ribs and bruising to his throat, stomach and back, was later acquitted of all charges at trial.

Iedereen lijkt zo zijn/haar taak te hebben in het PR-team van de McCanns en die Former British child protection officer Mark Williams-Thomas is er voornamelijk om de incompetentie van de Portugese politie aan te tonen. A third attempt to clarify things got a reply that seemed more an order: “Call me. 07734 4XXXXX”, always whitout identifyng the person that was sending the emails or “asking” to be called on the phone. We send a text message, with our contacts and we are waiting for whoever sent the emails, from WT Associates, to call. We emailed also Sky News, asking it they were aware of the business quality of Mr Mark Williams-Thomas, whyle they invited him in to give opinion about Madeleine McCan's case, presenting him as a "child protection expert" or a "crime expert".

A substitute was also being sought for Tavares de Almeida, Amaral's second man, who asked for indefinite leave. Both Amaral and Almeida are under investigation for torture in other cases.

Suggestions that the results of DNA tests have kept Madeleine McCann's parents "in the frame" have been dismissed by the family spokesman.
Ik weet ook niet of de uitspraken van die Mitchell over die resultaten wel helemaal betrouwbaar zijn, dit kan net zo goed weer propaganda zijn.

Het enige nieuws wat ik interessant vind is dat er nieuwe pief is aangesteld: "Mr Rebelo has previously worked in the central investigation department specialising in narcotics. He was also involved in a long investigation into a paedophile scandal at a state children's home in the capital, Lisbon, allegedly involving senior establishment figures. The case is ongoing."

Inderdaad opmerkelijk Kahaarin, dat die nieuwe ook bezig is met zaken over pedofielie en trouwens ook is gespecialeerd is in narcotica-zaken. En die Clarence Mitchell is woordvoerder van de McCanns, die neem ik al helemaal niet serieus, die is ingehuurd én getraind voor een goed verhaal tegen de media. Ik heb iig het idee dat het nu er om gaat spannen óf er genoeg bewijs is tegen de McCanns om een zaak te beginnen of dat de rechter straks beslist dat er wegens gebrek aan bewijs de zaak wordt verworpen. Dat is ook een angst van de McCanns, wel ontheven van verdenking maar niet onschuldig verklaard, lijkt me ook erg.

The scaling down of the police operation in Portugal has forced them to bring in their own team of investigators to follow up leads and potential sightings.
