A May 2006 issue of Sports Illustrated featured a survey taken among 470 baseball players about what player they would most like to see get beaned. Pierzynski received eighteen percent of the vote, which was higher than any other player. Forty-two percent of those surveyed in the AL Central Division (which the White Sox play in) voted for Pierzynski. It should be noted, however, that the majority of White Sox players voted for Pierzynski as a team joke.[citation needed] This undoubtedly greatly manipulated the survey.

On May 28 versus the Twins, Pierzynski twice ran down the first base line with his feet on the inside of the base, possibly nipping Twins first baseman Justin Morneau with his spikes. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was furious with the umpires, which resulted in a long tirade of yelling. However, he was not ejected. Gardenhire claimed that first base umpire Greg Gibson gave the Twins bench a throat slashing motion to quiet them down. Pierzynski denied any attempt to step on Morneau.[6]

In June 2006, Rocker inserted himself into the Ozzie Guillen–Jay Mariotti controversy by defending his former teammate's right to say offensive things. "This is a free country. If he wants to use a lewd term, he should be able to use a lewd term," Rocker told the Chicago Tribune. "Can't you use a lewd term in America if you want?" [2]. Referring to sensitivity training, he was quoted as saying "It was a farce, a way for the scared little man, Bud Selig, to get people off his ass". He claimed that when he attended mandatory sensitivity training, that he only stayed for 15 minutes. He also claimed he never paid the $500 fine that was levied against him.

Rocker's Return to NYC

On June 29, 2000, Rocker appeared in front of 46,987 fans at Shea Stadium for the first time since making the remarks. Over 700 police officers were summoned for the game (usually 60 are summoned) and 300 press passes were given out. A limit on beer sales was imposed. A special protective cover was erected over the Braves' bullpen in left field. During batting practice, fans were barred from sitting in the first four rows behind the Braves' dugout. A videotaped apology from Rocker was shown on Shea Stadium's 26-foot-tall screen in left-center field before the start of the game between the Mets and the Braves. The video was loudly booed. Inflammatory signs could be seen throughout Shea.

In the 8th inning, Rocker came in to replace Jason Marquis. He was loudly booed and some objects were thrown and a chant of "Asshole, Asshole" began. Rocker struck out Robin Ventura, retired Todd Zeile on a grounder to short, and got Jay Payton to ground out to third. The Braves went on to win, 6-4. Rocker left the stadium a half-hour after the rest of the team in a black van trailed by three security vehicles.

Op de aankondiging dat ik iets zou schrijven over hardloopster Kristijna Loonen (35) uit Amstelveen kwam meteen al een boze reactie. 't Is dat ik niet van de tak sportjournalistiek ben, anders had ik er al veel eerder aandacht aan besteed. Voor mij begon dit bij de Salverdaloop in Berkum (bij Zwolle), in augustus 2005. Daar ontstond behoorlijk wat tumult door Kristijna, die als tweede dame eindigde. Toevallig passerende toeschouwers kafferde ze uit: "Donder op, vieze vuile kankerhoer" en ze gaf daarbij een oudere vrouw die per ongeluk op het parkoers terecht was gekomen een duw. Een andere vrouw, die haar in de laatste ronde aanmoedigde, kreeg te horen: "Donder op, houd je vette bek, kutwijf."

Enkele maanden voorafgaand aan de 10e Terschelling Marathon Berenloop heeft topathleet Kristijna Loonen de organiserende vereniging SV Friesland benaderd en meegedeeld dat ze graag wilde deelnemen aan de 10e editie van de Terschelling Marathon. Haar doel was het record op de halve marathon bij de vrouwen te verbreken waarop een bonus van
¤ 250.00 staat.
Toppers als Kristijna Loonen biedt SV Friesland gratis deelname en een gratis overtocht naar Terschelling. Ook alle winnaars van vorige edities krijgen een dergelijke uitnodiging en mogen gratis deelnemen. De eerste prijs overall bij de mannen en vrouwen is een lang en geheel verzorgd weekend Terschelling, dus zou je het volgende jaar gratis kunnen logeren op Terschelling.
Een enkele minuut voor de start van de marathon meldde Loonen zich en ze wilde vooraan staan en het startvak betreden via de mat van championchip. Dit werd haar verboden door de KNAU-official. Dus moest Loonen net als alle andere wedstrijdlopers achter in het wedstrijdvak naar binnen. Het waren maar enkele meters dus geen probleem. Ze kon uiteindelijk toch vooraan staan.
De start verliep prima maar wat er onderweg gebeurde was ontoelaatbaar. Loonen ging, nadat ze vanwege de zware weersomstandigheden ging beseffen dat ze het parcoursrecord niet zou gaan redden, scheldend en vloekend over het parcours. Bij verzorgingsposten sloeg ze hele rijen bekertjes van de tafels en schold de verbijsterde vrijwilligers de huid vol inclusief obsceen gebarentaal.
De organisatie heeft continue een duidelijk herkenbare begeleidende fietser in de directe nabijheid van de koploper van de vrouwenwedstrijd. Als de officiele wedstrijdleider of de scheidsrechter ter plaatse zou zijn geweest, zou hij Loonen uit de wedstrijd hebben gehaald. Zo’n vrouw kan heel veel kapot maken. Zonder onze vrijwilligers kun je niet zo’n lopersfeest organiseren.
Bij de finish bleek dat ze inderdaad een kleine minuut tekort kwam voor het parkoersrecord. In het bijzijn van het publiek ging ze vloekend en tierend over de finish en probeerde door een afzetting te komen wat ze na flink wringen gelukte. Daar kwam ze bij de 'inleveren waardevolle voorwerpen en kleding'. Hier schold ze de vrijwilligers uit en gooide drie tafels onderste boven en probeerde een tv cameraman het filmen onmogelijk te maken door te proberen de camera uit zijn handen te slaan. Met behulp van omstanders kon dit worden voorkomen.
De prijsuitreiking was om 18.00 uur in de terminal van de veerboot. Dat is een feestelijk gebeuren onder begeleiding van de zanger Hessel van Terschelling. Deze had al aan het publiek gemeld dat er een deelneemster was die haar ernstig had misdragen en dat dit niet kon bij zo’n prachtig loopfeest op Terschelling. Voor de prijsuitreiking heeft Loonen haar excuses gemaakt voor haar gedrag bij de organisatie, maar wij vinden desondanks dat dergelijk gedrag niet door de beugel kan.
Wij vinden het van belang dat het bondsbestuur van de KNAU kennis neemt van het gedrag van Kristijna Loonen tijdens de Terschelling Marathon omdat wij vinden dat ze de loopsport daar ten schande heeft gemaakt en omdat ze vele vrijwilligers demotiveerd.

Verder mag natuurlijk Kristijna Loonen niet ontbreken. Bij de meeste onder ons onbekend, maar ik zal persoonlijk haar nominatie ondersteunen. Ze is momenteel nederlands kampioene op de marathon, maar momenteel geschorst (of net niet meer, wegens herhaaldelijk wangedrag.
