New features for FootStar
In the last few months we've been working on the following set of features for Footstar. According to our initial plans this release was supposed to be a bit sooner but as you guys know we're also sharing our time with the new Match Engine development so things got a little bit delayed.
On this announcement we won't be giving full details on how these features work so we'd recommend you to take a look in the Manual for more detailed information. Please note that, at this time, it is likely that only the English version is fully updated. Your local LA's will update your native Manual as soon as they are able to.
Attention: these features will be released next Monday (23/04/2007) and not today!
We just hope you guys enjoy these features as much as we've enjoyed developing them!
Trips
Players will have the possibility to move from city to city in order to visit friends and family. Players with human managers will have to require the managers' permission to travel (managers can let Assistant Managers validate trips as well by assigning them those tasks). Players in bot teams won't require any permission but they might be kicked from the team in case they miss matches due to being out of town. Trips will take place in training slot hours; this means that players can't train while they're traveling. Trips might take from 1 to 2 training slots; one for trips inside the country and two for trips to foreign countries. Teams will also have to go on trips when they play away. Players will have to travel with the team in order to be able to play (these team trips are automatic for players in case they are in the home city of the team when the trips start; read the Manual, section Trips, for more information on when these team trips happen. Oh and they are automatic for teams as well). Team trips will allow players to train though.
Two important related Trips features that you should be aware of are that in case you're in a different city than your team your player will have bot team training. Also the adaptability will always raise for the country you are located in.
We'll be developing this feature a lot in a near future. We want to make trips a very fun part of the game, for example, players traveling to attend certain events in another city. So please give us your suggestions regarding future enhancements for trips!
You'll find much more detailed information about Trips on the Manual.
Girl (friends)
Players will be able to meet girls and develop relationships with them, starting from normal friends to girlfriends and later even marry them. You can meet girls by selecting a new Having Fun training option: "Go out and meet girls". This new feature will affect players' morale (in a positive or negative way of course!) but you can opt for not having such relationships if you want. It won't affect your player in that case.
You'll find much more detailed information about Girlfriends on the Manual.
Family
Players now have a mother and a father that they must keep pleased in order to avoid morale drops, either by giving them gifts or make a few phone calls! More information on the "Players' relationships" chapter of the Manual.
Interaction System
Besides the revamped page where you can interact with your teammates - in order to avoid loads of clicks, - a new concept has been introduced: daily interaction points. Every player will start with 150 points to spend per day and all kind of interactions (either with Girls, Players and family) will have a set "cost". This should make interactions much more challenging and fun as you guys will have to decide on whom you will spend your daily attention: family, friends or girls?
Houses
Houses will gain more importance in the game. In order to live decently you'll need to own a house where you're living. By default all players start with a house in their home city (no maintenance costs neither the ability to sell the house) but in case you guys want to move to a different city you'll need a place to live. In case you don't have a house, you'll have to pay a daily cost of 20¤ (for a rent!). In case you don't have the money to pay that your player will start to suffer morale penalties.
This rule will only start working next season so that you have time to consider all your options. It's not like it's a big cost (20¤ p/day is like 140¤ in a week) but it's money! Oh, and keep reading so that you can find a cool option to avoid having to pay this cost.
Those whom already have houses (and we know who they are eheh!) might wanna give us a "call" so that we can relocate their current houses to another city.
Contract clauses
We are introducing this feature in order to spice things up regarding contracts and player/manager negotiations. We'll start with 4 clauses and many more might be added in the future. So the list, for starters, is: Clause so that the club pays the player's house expenses (in case he's playing out of his home town and doesn't own a house in his new location); Minimum release fee clause (a manager will be obligated to sell a player in case another team covers the fee); Manager release clause (with this clause a player is able to buy FS Fan Gold and become a manager of another team without any compensation); Inactivity clause (the manager will be able to fire a player in case he does not log in for the <number of days> in the clause)
All current contracts will obviously start without clauses. More information about this on the "Contract details" section of the Manual.
Direct transfer offers
Players playing in human-controlled teams can be approached directly by other (human-controlled) teams. Then it will be up to the manager to decide whether to accept the offer or not. In case the offer is accepted the player will automatically be put on the transfer list with the minimum bid set the same as the received offer. Until the end of the auction, other teams will be able to make offers (similar or higher) but the ultimate decision will obviously be from the player.
End of waiting list / Regional Leagues
A new concept is introduced: players will have the chance to register to play/train in Regional Leagues. There won't be matches to participate in but you will earn a standard bot wage (500¤) and keep a training scheme, therefore being able to train. This will be especially useful when you're put on the free transfer list. With Regional Leagues you will be able to train until you find a new team.
Also, we're suppressing the waiting list. Registration and character creation won't depend on the number of teams a country has. Bot players will be automatically created when all available players in a country are assigned to users. This means that we had to create some important rules for bot teams, such as a limit of 30 players in the squad. And inactive human players in bot teams being fired automatically (14 days).
For more details on this check two sections of the manual: "Regional Leagues" and "Selecting a team to play"
Other changes worth mentioning
- Players can now have several items of the same kind (ex: several houses, several cell phones, etc). There is several important information in the new Manual chapter: "Items/Goods". You should definitely take a look.
- Players can now train position experience (such as training sides) so that they can control better their position in the field. This is especially important for players playing in Bot Teams/Regional Leagues.
- The Lifestyle formula has been revised.
Well that's it for now. Please be patient with bugs and issues appearing with these new features! Report them to the Bugs forum as soon as/if you spot something strange. This is a very big structural change in FS (much more than it looks!) so it's possible that some odd behaviors might be found.
And please keep blessing us with your (great) suggestions. For example, we now have a new and cool feature - Trips - that is clearly under-developed right now, so please use your creativity to help us expand its use
Remember, this will only be released next Monday!
Keep enjoying the game. "Cya" around!
