A reliable and tested source just told us NBC is picking up 18 new episodes of “Scrubs” for next season.

Apparently the sitcom got renewed later than "The Office," "30 Rock" and "My Name Is Earl" because Disney and NBC were dickering over money.

NBC will help compensate for the short "Scrubs" order with more "Office." E! Online reported late Thursday that four of "The Office's" 24 episodes next season will be full hours.

NBC announces its fall slate Monday. Zack Braff hosts the season finale of “Saturday Night Live” the following weekend.

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- A seventh season of "Scrubs" and Candace Bushnell's "Lipstick Jungle" are the latest additions to NBC's 2007-08 season roster, various sources confirmed on Friday.

The newcomer, which stars Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price, joins yesterday's pick-ups "Life," "Journeyman," "The Bionic Woman" and "Chuck."

Also nearing a pick-up: the Peacock's imported version of the British comedy "The I.T. Crowd." Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, two of the pilot's executive producers (the others being David Guarascio and Moses Port), inked an overall deal with producer NBC Universal Television this week. The pact covers their duties on the series should it move forward, a likely sign its sibling company is going with the comedy.

Yesterday "Journeyman" creator Kevin Falls signed a similar two-year, seven-figure deal with 20th Century Fox Television - the same day the Peacock ordered the project to series.

Finally as for "Scrubs," the veteran comedy is expected to enter its final season with a slightly shortened run of 18 episodes.

What else? My dream-first choice- hero of mine - actor wants to do the next film I’m set to direct, “Open Hearts”, but I don’t think I’m gonna be able to direct it this summer as I had hoped since I’m due to be back at Scrubs on August 1st. That is- if we come back. NBC has yet to renew us… They have until 5/15, so cross your fingers. Now that I signed up for another year, I got all excited about doing it and then here we are on 4/26 and still no pick-up from the network. These last 4 episodes are REALLY good. So make sure to watch. Hopefully they’re not the end of the whole series, because the season ends with quite a cliffhanger and I think everyone would be pretty pissed if they never got to see the resolution.
