Although seemingly of little interest to anyone outside of Nebraska, Merthiolate is a unique glimpse into the mid-90's underground improv scene spear-headed by Matt Silcock. Merthiolate reminds me a little of the nonesense on Fred Frith's early 80's release, Gravity, which is to say it is very good, but one occasionally wonders just where it is going. This particular recording was performed during the 12th of October, 1995, runs 48 minutes long and features the talents of Mike Johnson, Jerry Johnston, Jay Kreimer and Matt Silcock. Perhaps one of LVD's most obscure (and underrated) releases.

Is een beetje moeilijk te zeggen aangezien ze nogal een stijlverandering zijn ondergaan. Maar ik zou met "Mods Carve the Pig" beginnen. De latere albums zijn ook erg goed, maar dat is meer alternatieve rock.
