Xe-100 contains 220,000 Graphite Pebbles with TRISO Particle fuel. TRISO particles are described as "the most robust nuclear fuel on Earth," according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

One noted benefit of this type of reactor technology is the ability to withstand extreme temperatures; Xe-100 operates at temperatures above 750°C. X-Energy manufactures its proprietary version of the fuel dubbed "TRISO-X."
