MASSIVE ATTACK have called their new album '100TH WINDOW' and will release it in February next year. The long-awaited follow-up to 1998's 'Mezzanine' will be released on February 10, with a single, 'Special Cases', to be released later that month. Robert '3-D' Del Naja, who recorded most of the album alone, revealed full details of the record in a posting on the band's official website, www.massiveattack.com. And he also revealed that he is to work with Mos Def and Tom Waits on the next LP, which he has already recorded a song for.
The full tracklisting for '100th Window' is:
'Future Proof'
'What Your Soul Sings'
'Everywhen'
'Special Cases'
'Butterfly Caught'
'A Prayer For England'
'Small Time Shot Away'
'Name Taken'
'Antistar'
The album ends with an untitled 13-minute long bassline which 3-D says is "to do dinner to/sleep at the wheel/or fuck your brains out to - it neatly takes the CD up to its' 74-minute limit".As previously revealed on NME.COM, a host of guest vocalists, including Damon Albarn, Sinead O' Connor and Horace Andy appear on the record. There are also rumours of Blur and Massive Attack playing shows together next year, although nothing is confirmed.
This year, Albarn and 3-D have been working with CND in a campaign to prevent US-led attacks on Iraq.

Massive Attack to Release New Album
Terror alert status raised from yellow to orangeChris Leslie-Hynan reports:
Seminal trip-hoppers Massive Attack have announced the title of their long-awaited new album: 100th Window. Clearly, rumored internal strife hasn't killed the band-- and thank god, 'cause everyone was getting tired of playing Mezzanine whenever they wanted a nice, dark, brooding shag-- but signs of that discord are evident, as 100th Window contains the work of only one of Massive Attack's three founding members, Robert "3-D" Del Naja. DJ Andrew "Mushroom" Vowles left the band following Mezzanine's release, and third member Grant "Daddy G" Marshall just... appears to be sitting this one out.Picking up the slack, Del Naja has enlisted Blur frontman/Gorilla Damon Albarn and long-time collaborator Horace Andy to join the album's official chanteuse, Sinead O'Connor. According to Del Naja, O'Connor will sing on three tracks, Andy on two, with Albarn contributing backing vocals to "Small Time Shot Away".
According to posts by Del Naja on the band's official website, 100th Window will be available sometime in February, with "Special Cases" being issued a couple of weeks or so in advance as the lead single. Del Naja also speaks of a final, unlisted track after closer "Antistar" (we've maintained the post's case sensitive glory for our loyal Pitchfork readers): "A 13 MINUTE LONG BASSLINE TO DO DINNER TO/SLEEP AT THE WHEEL TO/OR FUCK YOUR BRAINS OUT TO." Hey, the guy recorded "Teardrop", can we let it slide?
Not satisfied with Albarn, Andy, and O'Connor? Don't despair, Daddy G fans: Massive Attack is already at work on a follow-up album that includes Marshall as well as Mos Def and Tom Waits. Cram that one into your bone machine. Del Naja claims both albums should be released within twelve months of each other, though given the band's track record we're tempted to set the over/under on the deuce at 2007. Beginning in December, you'll be able to listen to 100th Window as a stream of 1's and 0's emanating from the band's website. Tracklist:
01 Future Proof
02 What Your Soul Sings
03 Everywhen
04 Special Cases
05 Butterfly Caught
06 A Prayer For England
07 Small Time Shot Away
08 Name Taken
09 AntistarDel Naja and Albarn have also been busy opposing the potential (hey, maybe if we keep calling it that it won't happen!) war in Iraq, designing and running anti-war advertisements in the NME, in a desperate attempt to save the good name of Massive Attacks everywhere.
