Detect FAKE ABERCROMBIE - 12 Questions to ask yourself.
It is commonly stated that 90% of designer goods sold on ebay are fake. Abercrombie is no different!
1. Are you looking at the actual item you will buy? If it is fake you will most likely be looking at a picture taken from the Abercrombie website.
2. Is the seller selling the same thing in different sizes? Sellers who deal in fake clothing buy large shipments from China. Search ebay to see if other sellers are selling the same item, if they are, there is a good chance they are all using the same 'fake' supplier.
3. Does the seller have any negative feedback questioning authenticity? Most 'fake' sellers will have over 98% feedback. I often search through thousands of past feedback comments looking for anything written about authenticity. If one they have sold is fake, they most likely all are! It is often very difficult to detect fake Abercrombie and most people are fooled, hence the reason for the 98% + postive feedback.
4. Does the price seem too good to be true? Abercrombie is expensive. How can a seller pay a supplier, sell to you at a cheap price and still make a profit? Only if the supplier is selling to them at a very cheap price- this is often the sign of a fake Asian import!
5. What does it smell like? Genuine Abercrombie should have that scent we all love. Even though this fragrance can be purchased and is not a definite sign of authenticity, if it smells like mothballs or cardboard storage boxes it's probably fake!
6. What do the tags look like? This is where most people are fooled. Fake items come with tags that are almost (if not) identical to authentic items and include metal parts, super thick card, price tag, barcode- pretty much everything! I keep all tags from genuine clothing so that if I receive something I'm not quite sure of then I can compare type fonts (size), space between barcode numbers etc. I check every subtle detail. A fake shirt I once received stated 'Mens M' on the price tag whereas all my authentic abercrombie stated 'Mens Medium'- otherwise the tags were identical. Overall, it is very difficult to confirm authenticity from the tags.
7. Is the sizing correct / how does the item fit? Many 'fake' manufactureres mess up the sizing or fit of a garment. I once bought a fake Abercrombie polo where the sleeves were a fraction too long for a 'muscle fit'.
8. Does your item look like the picture from Abercrombie? The fake striped polo mentioned above had the moose stitched a little too low and the angle of the stripes on the shoulder were slightly different to the authentic item.
9. Does it feel like good quality? If it doesn't, then it's probably fake. This is where you should intuitively feel if something is amiss. Abercrombie are known for producing high quality clothing. The fabric on shirts should feel thick and soft.
10. Is the stitiching in straight lines/symmetrical/perpendicular etc.? 'Fake' manufactureres are notorious for messing up the fine details. If the tags are not sewn straight or the stitching is loose and fraying in places, this could be a sign of a fake. Be careful not to confuse vintage wash and subtle nicking with low quality.
11. Do the buttons have Abercrombie & Fitch imprinted on them? Even if they do, the item could still be fake. Most fake items do have Abercrombie & Fitch imprinted on the buttons, however the buttons are often slightly larger and lower quality.
12. Have you seen the same design on a website that manufactures fake merchandise? I recommend you visit the website tong-kong. This chinese business manufactures items and exports them in batches of 50 (minimum). If you find a design on this site that is being sold on ebay, it is probably fake!

Ik heb de trui eerlijk gezegd ook nog nooit in 1 van de winkels of op de site gezien.
Dat zegt natuurlijk ook niet alles, ik ken ook niet ieder item uit m'n hoofd.
