Winston works in the Records Department of the Ministry of Truth - the section charged with modifying historical news archives for consistency. When by chance Winston uncovers incontrovertible proof that the Party is lying, he embarks on a journey of self-questioning. In doing so, he becomes a thought-criminal. Winston begins to notice that a young Party member, Julia, is watching him. She wears the distinctive sash of the ultra-zealous Anti Sex League and Winston fears that she is an informant. However, to his surprise, she reveals herself as a subversive and they embark on an illicit and dangerous relationship. This prompts Winston to explore deeper the blur between propaganda and reality. Ultimately, it leads him to O'Brien - a member of the Inner Party who sets Winston on an irreversible course of discovery.

ik heb het gezien.

helemaal. toch ben ik niet ovetuigd. er wordt teveel met de cijfers gerommeld en dan ineens volgens een metrisch stelsel wordt de exacte maat bepaald. een andere dan er in eerste instantie genoemd werd.

wat ik dus wel redelijk aannamelijk vind, is dat 300 cubit (weet niet of ik het goed schrijf, maar is een maatberekening) van mozes, die uit het egypte van toen kwam, rijmt met 20.6 inch per cubit.
maar waarom dan ineens twijfelen aan 50 cubit wijd?
omdat dit niet klopt in de rotsformatie die ze nu hebben gevonden?

verder hoorde ik de metaaldetectors zo vaak afgaan dat het wel leek of het hele schip van ijzer was gemaakt. dit ijzer kon onmogelijk door de natuur gevormd zijn. nou dan denk ik eerder aan een oude smidse, dan aan een boot gemaakt uit hout.

daarop komend zie ik plotseling dat ineens een holte in de onderkant van de boot zit, de moonhole. hoe komen zij daaraan? omdat de wijdte van het gevonden 'schip' niet voldoet aan de berekeningen van het drijfvermogen?

nee niet echt overtuigend en vooral heel veel gespuculeer, waarop ze weer dingen baseren. prima link voor tru. mijns inziens.
