The first impression produced "El Juego del Angel" is that it is a more developed, with better prose (although there are metaphors, they are more measured, more consistent with what is narrated, more elegant), with dialogue full of wit and with some humor. However, continues to insist on their descriptions of sunrises, which are repeated with some frequency at the beginning of many chapters, creating a feeling of already seen, that also happens with the apparitions of the inspector and his two gorillas, often narrated in the same way (David arrives at his house and there is an inspector with the cigarette in his mouth, waiting).
The structure is similar to the "Shadow of the Wind": a young, cult hero, lover of books, visiting the library of Forgotten Books & collect there a story written by someone from the past that has a certain relationship with him, and that while picking off his own drama of love and suffers a disappointment, tries to unravel the old author, coming and going along the gloomy, interviewing people who knew the above, etc, etc. In this case, however, the link between the two characters is much more intense. Zafón is a writer in the nineteenth century XXI. The novel has made me a little longer. I think many dialogues and situations are forever, especially the quest narrative, and that the author does not use narrative ellipses everything you need (for example, to count how to buy tickets at the station for me is not necessary). I have already commented on the excessive artificiality of the plot, with the planting of larger bodies they will leave the player every time you visit someone ... But as I said above, it is impossible to consider this a mistake if we speak of a subjective narrative.
