Hier zie je de vulkanen in Indonesie waarvan men weet dat ze actief kunnen zijn/worden. De status staat er bij vermeld. Iedere dag wordt dit ge-update.

Idee misschien om op de kaart de vulkanen een kleur te geven met hun "status"?

Vulkaan bij Keulen kan uitbarsten

AMSTERDAM - Een deel van Nederland loopt het risico getroffen te worden door een vulkanische uitbarsting in Duitsland. Een slapende vulkaan in het Eifel-gebied bij Keulen zou de Duitsers plotseling kunnen verrassen, zo waarschuwen onderzoekers.

Het is 12.900 jaar geleden dat de vulkaan bij het Laacher meer geëxplodeerd is, maar in Bild verwijst professor Ulrich Schreiber naar het huidige gevaar: „Een plotselinge uitbarsting is ook nu op elk ogenblik mogelijk. De risico's worden onderschat!”. Ook professor Hans-Ulrich Schmincke veronderstelt dat er een nieuwe fase van activiteit aan zit te komen. Dit zou veroorzaakt worden door opstijgende CO2 bij het Laacher meer, wat zorgt voor een bedreigend rumoer in de aardkorst. Daardoor groeit de kans op een uitbarsting.

Ter geruststelling betwijfelen andere deskundigen of het risico daadwerkelijk zo groot is. „Met vulkanen kan het inderdaad vrij snel gaan, maar je kan ook vrij snel de Lotto winnen”, aldus vulkanoloog Holger Paulick. Seismoloog Klaus-Günther Hinzen bevestigt ook dat het scenario mogelijk is, maar dat er op dit moment geen aanwijzingen zijn voor een mogelijke uitbarsting en Heinz Lempertz, directeur van de Duitse Vulkanologische Maatschappij, noemt het zelfs „een sprookje” dat deze slapende vulkaan ongemerkt wakker kan worden.

Okeee, en waar ligt Keulen tov van Amsterdam en omstreken? M.a.w geen enkele

Geologists say the crater lake on White Island has jumped to a record temperature of 74oC and the water level has plunged 6m -- possibly signalling an eruption on the island.

The drop in water level "may cause instability in the geothermal system that could result in minor eruptive activity," said GNS Science volcanic surveillance co-ordinator Brad Scott.

White Island in the Bay of Plenty has not erupted since 2000 but the water level has risen 30m in the past six years.

The water temperature in its crater lake has jumped from 45degC last August to over 60degC in January and was now 74degC. The lake water was also very acidic "like scalding hot battery acid", Mr Scott said.

"Over the past few months, increased heat and gas flow into the volcano has caused both a rapid evaporation of the lake and more gas being released into the atmosphere."

The drop in water level is equivalent to a 10 per cent fall in the volume of the lake, and some prominent hot pools and streams on the island are drying up because water has stopped leaking out of the crater.

Sulphur dioxide gas being released into the atmosphere has jumped from 300 tonnes a day to 500 tonnes over the past eight months, and the amount of carbon dioxide being pumped out has risen from 1000 tonnes a day to 1400 tonnes.

"The increase in gas through the lake might cause some discomfort to visitors to the island when they are close to the lake," Mr Scott said.

Huila is the highest active volcano in Colombia. The volcano summit is covered by a glacier 13 km sq in area.
In 1994 a magnitude 6.4 earthquake under Huila volcano caused landslides and mudflows which destroyed towns. Earthquake swarms occurred during February-May 2000.

Huila Volcano erupted in February 2007 causing evacauations of nearby towns. Melting of the glacier by the eruption is one of the hazards faced by downstream residents.

Zijn vrije recente uitbarstingen, ik meende van de 19e of 20e... ik zocht nog naar nadere info..
heb twee stukken tekst van 2 sites in dat stuk staan... Het gaat in elk geval om 1 'uitbarsting' deze maand, enkele dagen terug.... vandaar "het rommelt" ...

On the island of Java, a “mud volcano” has been spewing thousands of cubic meters of mud every day since late May 2006. According to BBC news, British geologists believe that oil and gas drilling ruptured pressurized limestone rock and enabled water and mud to reach the surface. The oil company and others have suggested that the event could be related to the May 27 earthquake near Yogyakarta. Regardless of the cause, the volcano has become a major hazard, creating a huge mud lake that buried villages and agricultural land.

These images from the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) on NASA’s Terra satellite show the progression of the mud flow from September 3, 2006, (middle) to February 10, 2006 (top). The bottom image, acquired on March 11, 2005, shows how the area looked before the mud flow began. In these infrared-enhanced, “false-color” images, bare ground appears gray, water appears dark blue, and vegetation appears red. Robust vegetation appears bright red. Although clouds partially obscure the February 10 image, the mud flow’s advance can still be detected. In this image, the mud flow has spread beyond the toll road toward the east. Areas of robust vegetation in this image are smaller, although that could be partially due to a difference in season.

A scientific survey published in the Geological Society of America’s February issue of GSA Today stated that the mud volcano could release between 7,000 and 150,000 cubic meters of mud every day for years. According to Reuters, there was concern that mud might pollute the water, damaging the area’s shrimp industry. In an attempt to slow the mud flow, the Indonesian government has approved a plan to drop concrete balls linked by heavy chains into the mouth of the volcano, according to news reports.
