Samuel moet zeker blijven.
quote:Cannavaro joins Napoli
Paolo Cannavaro has finally completed his expected transfer from Parma to hometown club Napoli.
The Azzurri had been chasing the stopper for months after it became clear that he would not be signing a new deal at the Stadio Tardini.
Cannavaro, younger brother of Juventus and Italy ace Fabio, has signed a five-year contract at the San Paolo.
The former Under-21 international defender will be unveiled to the media this afternoon at Castelvolturno.
The Cannavaro brothers both started their careers at Napoli even if Paolo played just two Serie B games for the outfit in his first spell.
He left Napoli for Parma in September 1999 and has remained ever since, even if he spent the 2001-02 campaign on loan at Verona.

Andy Van Der Meyde has admitted that his move to Everton was a mistake and signalled his intention to return to Serie A. “I am sorry to have quit Italian football and Inter,” the winger told the Corriere dello Sport. The winger also added that he would be wiling to join Juventus – even if they were demoted to Serie B.

En zo hoort dat, je legt aanbiedingen uit Firenze en Genova gewoon naast je neer, Napoli is the place to bequote:Bucchi rejects Fiorentina bid
Serie B Capocannoniere Cristian Bucchi confirms offers from Fiorentina and Sampdoria, but has rejected them in order to join Napoli.
“Modena have not been able to reach Serie A and our paths will therefore separate. The club wants to focus on younger players,” he explained after the play-off semi-final loss to Mantova.
The former Perugia and Cagliari striker hit the headlines with his 29 Serie B goals for the Canarini, earning him the Capocannoniere crown this season.
“I have always said that I hope to join Napoli. I’ve been requested by Fiorentina, Atalanta and Sampdoria this summer, but I told Modena that my intention is to go to the Stadio San Paolo. Compared to Napoli, all other offers disappear into the background.”
Although no official deal is in place, Bucchi looks set to spearhead the fallen giants, who have earned promotion to Serie B for next season.
“I am 29 years old and want to play in an important city like Naples. I have a basic agreement with the club and now it’s up to Modena and Napoli to reach an agreement that would clearly suit both parties.”
Bucchi isn’t the only new arrival, as they have already captured Parma defender Paolo Cannavaro – a Neapolitan born and bred who began his career in the Azzurri youth system.
There are also strong reports that Under-21 international and former Ascoli winger Pasquale Foggia, who has just signed a four-year contract with Milan, will spend the season in Naples on loan.
“Milan want to keep me and I’ll go to their summer training camp, but then I’ll evaluate my position and any possible loan spells,” he told napolimagazine.it. “To play for my home town club would be a wonderful thing and I’m happy my old teammate Maurizio Domizzi has also gone to Napoli. The San Paolo would be a dream for me.”

quote:Prison threat for Cafu
Milan stopper Marcos Cafu is facing the threat of a prison sentence if found guilty of falsely obtaining an Italian passport.
Italian prosecutors have called for the Brazilian national team captain to be handed a 10-month jail term should a guilty verdict be handed out.
The case originally dates back to 2001 when the South American, then at Roma, was one of 11 players to have allegedly gained EU citizenship by falsifying paperwork.
The public prosecutor in charge of the case has also asked for Roma President Franco Sensi, Cafu’s wife and former Giallorossi striker Gustavo Bartelt to be handed sentences too.
A host of non-European players applied for Italian citizenship in the 1990s and 2000s in order to fall in line with player restrictions.
However, even if the 36-year-old is found guilty of wrongdoing then he is set to avoid a spell behind bars.
Italian law dictates that individuals with a clean record are usually handed suspended sentences for offences which carry less than two years.
quote:Buffon open to Plan C
Gigi Buffon says he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of staying at Juventus – even if it means playing Serie C football.
The goalkeeper has been linked with an exit given the possibility that Juve may be stripped of their Serie A status as a result of the Calciopoli investigations.
But Buffon, apparently already a target for Milan and Real Madrid, is not making any decisions about his future just yet.
“Would I stay with Juventus in B? Nothing scares me in football anymore, not even the prospect of Serie C,” he said from Italy’s World Cup training base.
“The fortunate thing about Juventus is that there is an historic family behind it with over 100 years of involvement,” he added.
“I’m waiting to hear what the project is for the future and then I will make my decisions with serenity.”
Italian football is going through a rough time as a result of the scandal, but 21m people tuned in for last night’s 2-0 win over Ghana.
“That is a really satisfying piece of news as it shows that the people want to celebrate after what has happened recently,” he added.
“It’s great to sweat, make sacrifices and run for your nation. This sense of unity can help to cancel out everything as everyone will be happy if we manage to win.”
