Reports in Italy this evening suggest Chelsea will present Andriy Shevchenko to the Press on Thursday after agreeing a £35m cash move.
The Ukrainian handed in an official transfer request last Friday and Milan began negotiations with the Stamford Bridge side.
It’s claimed in the peninsula that, despite speculation of William Gallas, Didier Drogba and Hernan Crespo being part of the deal, a £35m cash figure has been agreed.
There is no official word from the two clubs yet, but the reports suggest Shevchenko will undergo a medical over the next two days and will be presented to the British Press on Thursday.
The contract will only be deposited in July, as it includes a clause taking £7m off the price-tag if he should suffer a serious injury during the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
The Rossoneri are already looking to his replacement, with other news sources suggesting that a £8m offer has been tabled for Cagliari hitman David Suazo.
The Honduras international scored a club record 22 Serie A goals this season and has been compared to former Milan hero George Weah.
However, local newspaper ‘Il Sardegna’ writes that Suazo’s contract includes a clause allowing him to move abroad for only a £4m penalty. He has also been linked with Manchester United.
Denk eerder Clarence Seedorf.

quote:Cassetti pens Roma contract, Couto extends Parma career
Former Lecce full-back Marco Cassetti has signed with Roma, while Fernando Couto extends his Parma career.
Cassetti put pen to paper on a three-year contract this evening and will receive £410,000 per season.
The defender had confirmed to newspapers last week that he had chosen the Giallorossi as his next destination following Lecce’s relegation to Serie B and he underwent a medical this morning.
Roma will pay £1.1m for co-ownership of Cassetti, who has two senior Italy caps to his name.
However, there are still some details to resolve, as the Stadio Via del Mare side hasn’t yet finalised which youth team player to take as part of the deal.
He is Roma’s second signing of the summer, as ex-Sampdoria midfielder Max Tonetto penned a contract holding him to the club until June 2008.
In other news, Fernando Couto has extended his Parma contract until June 2007, as his current deal was set to expire this summer.
The Portuguese defender had considered retirement, as he’ll turn 37 in August, but opted to continue at the Stadio Tardini for another season.
Couto first hit Italian shores with Parma in 1994-95, then moved to Lazio after a spell at Barcelona, returning to the Gialloblu this term. He has so far amassed 207 Serie A appearances and 13 goals
