Guns N' Roses #2 - Axl rocked weer!

Vrijdag a.s. ! ik ben toch wel enigszins nerveus, bij lange na niet zoals destijds voor de shows in de kuip en de goffert maar toch..

nerveus? . Cute .

nee, ik zie toch ff teveel concerten om me nog druk te maken erover, maar ik heb er wel heel veel zin in .

hm, heb nu de Hammerstein New York setlist gevonden, maar ik zie maar 12 tracks (en solo's)

zijn stem is helemaal naar de kloten hier. Lijkt wel een slechte imitatie van zichzelf.
Het geluid is ook slecht, dat geef ik toe.

Axl Rose is nooit een hele goede zanger geweest, maar dit is bedroevend.
15 jaar terug was hij de beste frontman, dat is valt niet te ontkennen, evenals het beroerde geluid dat hij tegenwoordig uit zijn keel knijpt.

Voor de operingspost: in 1999 is het live album Live Era 1987 - 1993 uitgebracht

Hmmmmm, die sweet child is best bagger. Fantastisch nummer. Fantastische live fuck-up

Ik snap niet dat die gitaristen van axl altijd alle solos altijd upfucken. Het is niet zo dat ze onmogelijk zijn ofzo.

Ben net terug van RAR en uiteraard de Axl Rose band gechecked, dit was een aardige domper ten opzichte van de shows in '92 en '93 maar uiteraard niet onverwachts. Ze begonnen rond 1:40 tot een uur of 4.
Het was gaaf om Axl weer aan het werk te zien maar het ontbreken van de overige leden uit de helden line up gaf een te nare bijsmaak.
Gaafste moment was het gastoptreden van Sebastian Bach tijdens My Michelle. Izzy zou overigens ook van de partij geweest zijn tijdens deze show maar heeft het niet gered schijnbaar. De nieuwe nummers klinken vrij goed maar ik zou nooit meer verder zijn gegaan onder de naam van GNR. De nadruk lag weer op appetite overigens.

zit hier in de Hammersmith in London, mijn reet eraf te zwetdn. Kankeraxl is al zeker 34 minuten, of is het 64 minuten te laat!!!

veelstefucking laat, maar onder ovationeel applaus!

ik ben net terug uit londen waar ik gisteren de show in Hammersmith Apollo gezien heb.
wat een fantastisch optreden was het zeg...zijn stem was geweldig, hij had geweldige uithalen die hij lang kon volhouden. Waarschijnlijk toch het verschil met een groot podium waar hij meer rent en sneller buiten adem is.
Al met al een geweldig optreden...zulke mag hij er meer geven

Ik dacht dat rockpalast vannacht de boel van GNR op RAR zou uitzenden met uitzondering van de nieuwe nummers?

Net de dvd van Rock In Rio bekeken.... Muzikaal staat het, voor zover ik er verstand van heb, als een huis - maar het klinkt allemaal vrij 'nagespeeld', weinig eigen interpretatie naar mijn idee... ik heb echt geen idee uit wie de backingband op dit moment bestaat... Axl is echter niet nooit echt goed bij stem geweest live naar mijn mening en ook hier viel het na een paar nummers niet aan te horen.... Saaie uitvoering van KOHD... Paradise City klonk nog het beste van het hele concert. Kortom, ik heb er geen spijt van dat ik geen kaartje voor Nijmegen heb

Edit: ik lees net verhalen dat de mix van de tv-uitzending slecht was en dat de mix in het echt stukken beter was .Misschien verklaart dat al een hoop.

Guns n' Roses return to the UK

The band premiere four new songs
Guns n' Roses made their long awaited live return to the UK tonight (June 7) for a warm up show before their Download Festival appearance this weekend.

Singer Axl Rose - the only remaining member of the original line-up - returned to the Hammersmith Apollo for the first time in nearly 20 years for a set peppered with classic hits and four new tracks.

Typically, Axl turned up over an hour late with his seven piece band.

But he treated the crowd to a 130 minute set made up of fan favourites 'Welcome To The Jungle', 'Sweet Child O' Mine', 'Mr Brownstone', 'Patience' and Use Your Illusion tracks 'You Could Be Mine' and 'November Rain'.

His band also played new tracks - 'Madagascar','Better', 'The Blues' and 'IRN' - from the long awaited 'Chinese Democracy' album.

The show, which was watched by Queen guitarist Brian May and model Elle Macpherson, saw Axl make a number of costume changes in between spectacular pyrotechniques.

During the Bob Dylan cover 'Knockin' On Heaven's Door', the singer also handed his mic over for a member of the audience to sing.

He was later joined by former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach for 'My Michelle' before the band eventually wrapped up the show with 'Paradise City'.

OK, so he wasn't on his own... but here we go... Guns'N'Roses at Hammersmith - arguably
the biggest farce for a gig I've ever been to - and that include Ozzy cancelling after the
support played at Rock City in 87/88 the year escapes me now or Steve Earle not turning
up in Leicester a few years later because he had stomach cramps - no doubt not helped by
the huge quantities of smack he was using at the time.

Anyway... phone the Apollo in the after noon - doors open 7, support - Avenged Sevenfold
at 7.30 and GNR at 8.45.

Arrive at the venue at 7.15 the doors are not open, people in the queue are getting
restless. Eventually opened at 7.45.

Avenged sevenfold then came on at 8.20. Were rubbish frankly. When the highlight of teh
set is a Pantera cover, you just know it can't be good. Finish at 8.50.

By 9.30 the stage is ready for GNR... but then the wait begins, after about half an hour the
booing starts, so they turn the music louder -it gets progressively louder as the booing
gets louder.

By 10.30 people are leaving... then at 10.45 GNR - Welcome to the Jungle. The sound is
appalling... Axl's voice sounds terrible - thankfully Tommy and one of the keyboard
players are suingling backup to cover the worst of it.

Basically they start with the hits and then before Sweet Child a guitar solo.... rubbish...

It appears Tommy is Axl's main man... the only memebr of the band he really interacts
with. Tommy certainly looks teh best, in a grey/green zip up military style jacket and black
zipper trousers.

Through out the time I was there people were leaving I left at midnight in a failled attempt
top get the last train juist as November rain started - probably a quarter/third of the
crowd was gone by then. (The show apparently finished at 1am - well afer the tubes had
finished)

In the evening standard they said Axl looked like Mick Hucknell and that was true... similar
attitude - bith gionger, both had bands with friends who were all replaced by session
Musos, both started with their best albums and went down hill..

There were some new songs they were atrociuos...

Personally, I think everyone connected with this show should be ashamed - the band, the
promoter, the venue - if people pay good money to see a show they should at least get to
see it... whether or not is any good... in this case it was far from good....

Tommy should distance himself from this circus asap....

volgens mij ben ik dan toch naar een andere show geweest of heb ik iets anders gehoord

en Ron Thal is best een goeie gitarist. De man heeft misschien qua uiterlijk meer wat weg van Weird Al dan van Slash, maar hij kan me een potje spelen zeg! Check z'n muziek op Bumblefoot.

Die laatste review is gewoon van iemand die tommy het liefst terug ziet in The replacements.
In welke andere band hij ook zou spelen, hij zou er toch iets negatiefs over schrijven.

Eigelijk ben ik blij dat slash er niet meer in zit, de nummers die hij met VR maakt zijn geen toppers....
Trouwens Slash was ook geen orgineel Guns 'n roses bandlid...hij verving Tracii guns.
Als het nieuwe album (eindelijk eens) uitkomt zal voor veel jongeren dit de orginele GNR zijn.

Ik geloof er echt geen zak van dat de nieuwe GNR ooit écht als GNR zal worden gezien. Iedereen zal het toch blijven zien als Axl + bijelkaar geraapt zooit van muzikanten, ook al zitten sommige mensen al sinds 1996/1997 in de band.

vorig jaar op Roskilde Velvet Revolver, dit jaar Axl (ben benieuwd)
helaas niet samen

heb GnR zowel in de Hammersmith als op Download gezien, ik vond het gaaf
Axl is een verschrikkelijke irritante eikel - en ondanks een hoog 'jam' gehalte was het absoluut top!

Izzy Stradlin deed nog een paar liedjes mee tijdens het optreden op Download

Heb toch ook maar een kaartje gehaald

Their drummer Brain aka Bryan Mantia has had to return to San Francisco earlier than scheduled to be with his pregnant wife. The band have been travelling with understudy drummer Frank Ferrer and he will be ready to step in when the tour continues as scheduled on Saturday with their next show at Belgium's Graspop Festival.

It is expected that Brain will return to the tour in approximately 2 weeks time. The band had a phenomenal show at Bercy in Paris last night which they consider to be the best of the tour to date. During the exuberant performance guitarist Robin Finck pulled his hamstring but will benefit from the extra day of rest and will be ready for Saturday. The Hallenstadion show in Zurich will now take place on the 1st of July and all tickets are valid.

Guns N' Roses apologise to their Swiss fans for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing them in a couple of weeks.

Hoop dat 'ie er in Nederland weer bij is.

Zaterdag waren ze op graspop en wat erg! Na elk nummer viel het even stil, is dat om tijd te rekken of voor de spanning? Man het is een metalfestival, rock on zou ik zeggen! Maarnee, in plaats daarvan probeerde men Whitesnake van de dag ervoor te overtreffen in het spelen van lange solo's in plaats van lekker door te rocken.

Ik moet zeggen dat ik Axl wel goed bij stem vond en me de nummers zelf alleszins meevielen (excl gepiel.), maar het optreden as a whole was erg saai en traaaaag. Nutteloze pyro ook. de rest van de opzet was wel mooi maar was eigenlijk meer eyecandy voor een matig optreden. Was de menigte net een beetje op stoom door een bekender nummer, viel het geheel weer als een plumpudding in elkaar.

Van mij mag ie best doorgaan, maar ik hoef Axl niet meer te zien. Hoeveel nummers speelden ze nou in zo'n lange settijd? Na een uur of wat liep het veld dan ook lanmgzaam leeg, er bleven nog best veel staan hoor, maar ik denk toch dat het gehalveerd werd. Een hoop teleurgestelde gezichten gezien ook... Laat volgende keer lekker een andere band spelen op een metalfestival.

Ja, ik ben wel enigzins teleurgesteld ja...

Na wat ik begrepen heb ligt Axl constant onder de zuurstofmaskers, dat zou wel eens de reden kunnen zijn dat er zo veel pauzes in zaten.

Ik vond het trouwens erg meevallen, een van de beste optredens van graspop. Wel een beetje jammer van de overkill aan lelijke solo's en een tekort aan CD nummers.

Volgens mij moet het dan nog altijd rockt zijn
