Giovanni Galeone is the new boss of struggling Udinese after the departure of Nestor Sensini and Loris Dominissini on Monday evening.

Sensini, who actually started the campaign as a player, handed in his resignation today after the club slumped to just a point above the relegation zone.

As a consequence, the Friuli outfit have decided to hire the 65-year-old at the expense of Dominissini.

The Coaching duo only lasted for six games, from which they collected just two draws, after they replaced Serse Cosmi.

The club, who amazingly started this term in the Champions League, opted for the switch after yesterday’s 4-0 loss to Milan.

Galeone will make his debut on the Bianconeri bench in Wednesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final against Inter.

Roma are finalising their transfer plans after receiving a significant cash injection thanks to a two-year television rights deal.

The Giallorossi will net around £90m in total after completing an agreement with Mediaset for the terrestrial digital rights of their home games until the end of the 2007-08 campaign.

A percentage of that amount is now expected to be made available to boss Luciano Spalletti to strengthen the side.

Roma will once again be eligible to buy players in the summer after their one-year embargo, in the aftermath of the Philippe Mexes controversy, ends and they have some interesting targets.

A new striker is definitely at the top of their list given the injury problems of Shabani Nonda and Vincenzo Montella this term.

Spalletti, who has been forced to play games this season with no recognised attackers, wants Vincenzo Iaquinta.

The latter, an Italian international who is likely to be a part of Germany 2006, worked under Spalletti during his time on the Udinese bench.

Another option is Lecce sensation Mirko Vucinic who will leave the Stadio Via Del Mare at the end of the campaign.

He already suggested last summer that he would welcome a Giallorossi switch after netting an incredible 19 League goals.

It has also been suggested that Roma may now try to tempt Milan to sell another of Spalletti’s old boys in the form of Marek Jankulovski.

The capital club had been recently linked with a loan bid for the Czech wing-back even if he has subsequently quashed talk of a move south.

I want England, says Capello

Juventus boss Fabio Capello has again admitted that he would like to end his career by taking charge of England.

After winning titles with Milan, Real Madrid, Roma and the Old Lady, the tactician concedes that he’ll soon bring an end to his spell in club football.

However, the former international who scored past England in a 1973 friendly 1-0 win at Wembley, has ruled himself out as a successor to Sven Goran Eriksson after this summer’s World Cup.

“I’ll quit club football in three years time,” he told Italian magazine L’Espresso in an interview this week.

“I then want to realise a dream that has been with me for some time and that is to Coach England.”

The English FA are believed to be admirers of the highly successful Coach and are understood to have already contacted him before they netted Eriksson.

Capello is currently tied to the Stadio Delle Alpi outfit until June 2007 and is set to remain despite speculation suggesting otherwise.

He was heavily associated with a summer return to Real Madrid, but that is now looking unlikely given that the infamous Juventus triad are set to remain.

Capello had previously suggested that he could leave Juve if directors Antonio Giraudo, Roberto Bettega and Luciano Moggi headed for the exit at the end of this campaign.

Chinaglia bevestigt bod op Lazio

De oud-speler van Lazio heeft bevestigt dat hij een serieus bod heeft neergelegd bij eigenaar Claudio Lotito.

"We hebben nog geen reactie gekregen op onze vraag naar een ontmoeting, maar zelfs als Lotito die weigert, zal de groep die ik vertegenwoordig op een kans blijven wachten. Zelfs als dat betekent dat we nog enkele maanden moeten wachten, we willen het nu echt doorzetten," aldus Chinaglia.

De speler die Lazio in 1974 aan zijn eerste Scudetto hielp, claimt al enkele maanden dat hij de vertegenwoordiger is van een groot concern, dat veel interesse heeft om Lazio over te nemen.

Lazio voorzitter Claudio Lotito, die het slachtoffer is van een aantal grote protestacties door de supporters binnen en buiten het stadion, liet doorschemeren dat er geen concrete aanbieding is achter deze geruchten.

"Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat ik hier niet voor niks ben," zei 'Long John' Chinaglia.
