TD: Are you Dutch?
MM: Dutch is in my family, but I don't know how much. I'm Dutch and German.
TD: How did you find out you were on the Netherlands roster?
MM: I wasn't told by anybody. One of my friends called me and said, "Are you playing for the Netherlands?" and I didn't know what they were talking about.
TD: Did you think at all about participating?
MM: No, because I had already spoken with Team USA. I didn't think anything of it and I didn't care because I already told (the United State) I wasn't going to play.
TD: You grew up in South Holland, Illinois. Would that be enough to get you on the Netherlands roster?
MM: I don't think so. A fan here in spring training said something about it. There's Holland, Michigan, too, so there isn't a connection and nobody ever said anything about that to me.
TD: Have you ever been to the Netherlands?
MM: No.
TD: Any Dutch traditions in your house?
MM: No. Nothing like that. I have four best friends, three of us are Dutch. My other two buddies were always saying, "Hey, want us to go get you some wooden shoes?" Actually, they wondered if I had wooden shoes with spikes on them.
TD: When you'd go on a date would it always be Dutch?
MM: No. All that stuff, I don't know anything about that.
