	Tussen nu en de uitreiking van de Oscars op 5 maart 2006 delen in de VS verschillende kleine groepen hun eigen prijzen uit, zowel critici als filmmakers zelf. Ik zal hier een aantal van die prijswinnaars posten (de nominaties zal ik grotendeels overslaan, tenzij iemand daar ook in geïnteresseerd is), al dan niet voorzien van mijn eigen, totaal ongefundeerde mening. Of aan de hand van die prijzen de Oscars zijn te voorspellen, wordt elk jaar druk besproken en berekend. Zorg dat je erbij hoort! Praat hier mee! 	Voorlopig moeilijk om of te doen over films die ik nog niet heb gezien natuurlijk. Maar vooruit dan, PSH en Keener . Bij de weg, ik vind nominaties ongemeen boeiend.

	Ik vind het altijd maar raar dat die prijzen toegekend worden voordat het jaar om is. Er komen nog wat films aan die misschien ook kans zouden maken op zo'n prijs.

Misschien hadden de film zelf of Tarantino ook oscars moeten krijgen. Ik vind wel dat de acteer-oscars terecht niet werden gewonnen. Dit soort films heeft weliswaar degelijke en coole acteerprestaties, maar ze zijn niet meteen groots.

	Natuurlijk nemen we de Oscars niet serieus, we vermaken ons er alleen mee (en we worden graag kwaad als de verkeerde wint). Oh, en ik ben met SoK eens dat Pulp Fiction heeft gewonnen wat hij verdiende en Sin City verdient ook niet echt een acteer-Oscar.

	Dan blijven er nog genoeg technische Oscars over. Dit zijn bijvoorbeeld categoriën waarin Sin City zeker niet gepasseerd kan worden. 	Ja, inderdaad. Munich en Kong als film niet, maar hun regisseurs wel. En Cronenberg wordt overgeslagen. Bij de acteurs hebben ze ook niet hun best gedaan. Wel Bello, maar waar is Mortensen? Geen Keener, die alles tot nu toe leek te winnen. 	In Engeland zijn een paar van de veelgenoemde films ook nog niet uit, dus dit is voor ons wat herkenbaarder. Hier staat een lijst van 42 songs die in de preselectie zitten voor beste song. Ik ken vrijwel geen enkele song, maar ik vind Best Song dan ook één van de meest overbodige Oscars, die interesseert me hoegenaamd niet.

	Ja, blijkbaar. (Dat verbaast me dan, want Sin City is geheel greenscreen. Zit toch meer werk in dan Batman of Narnia.) Maar ik dacht dat de procedure dezelfde was als bij Best Song, maar dat is niet zo. Deze 7 zijn de finalisten, er is dus al een selectie gemaakt.

Daarbij geteld dat de meeste 'special effects' in die film niet eens special effects waren maar gewoon deel uitmaakte van de werkelijke set om het voor de acteurs ook zo realistisch mogelijk te maken.

	Tss, ik ben er even niet en de leukste awards worden door anderen neergekwakt . _{Nee hoor, dank .} Maar de gilde-awards zijn dus een stuk interessanter dan al die prijzen van critici, omdat ze worden bepaald door de acteurs, schrijvers, regisseurs etc. zelf. Dit maakt ze een betere indicatie voor de Oscars dan de rest, misschien ook wel beter dan de Golden Globes. En er zijn interessante verschillen met de Globes-nominaties dit jaar, dus de speculatie kan losbarsten . Eerst even de laatste van de vier gildes: Directors Guild nominaties George Clooney - Good Night, and Good Luck. Paul Haggis - Crash Ang Lee - Brokeback Mountain Bennett Miller - Capote Steven Spielberg - Munich

	En wat betekent dat allemaal? Nou, bijvoorbeeld dat King Kong niet genoemd wordt, en dat Spielberg wel een nominatie krijgt maar Munich niet (Screenplay leek te verwachten). Gevolg: hun kansen op een Oscar zijn aanzienlijk verkleind. Jackson kunnen we volgens mij vergeten bij de regisseurs. Lee staat vast, Clooney ook bijna. Haggis is ook waarschijnlijk, al had ik dat niet gedacht. Een onbekende als Miller maakt toch wat minder kans, misschien dat zijn plaats hier wordt ingenomen door Spielberg, Cronenberg of zelfs Meirelles. De Producers Guild awards kun je vergelijken met de Best Picture-categorie, en deze vijf zouden wel eens letterlijk de Oscarnominaties kunnen worden. De kansen van Capote zijn in elk geval een stuk vergroot. Ook bij de acteurs opvallende keuzes: ondanks dat hij twee keer genoemd wordt onder Ensemble Cast, krijgt Terrence Howard geen individuele nominatie (en Cheadle wel, terwijl Howard toch een stuk beter was). Overigens houdt dit in dat ook Ludacris twee keer genomineerd is . Van de acteurs stonden Ledger, Hoffman en Phoenix wel zo'n beetje vast. Strathairn maakt een goede kans, Crowe minder. Hij zou vervangen kunnen worden door Howard of eventueel Jeff Daniels - Mortensen ligt er bijna helemaal uit. Witherspoon, Huffman en nu ook Dench staan vast.

	Vannacht zal de uitreiking van de Golden Globe gehouden worden van 0200 tot 0500 uur. Het wordt in 150 landen rechtstreeks uitgezonden maar daar zit Nederland natuurlijk niet bij. Misschien tegen beter weten in maar heeft iemand toevallig een link naar de rechtstreekse uitzending via internet?

	Ik doe liever geen harde voorspellingen, maar anders zou ik zoiets zeggen: Voor Drama Brokeback Mountain, Felicity Huffman en Heath Ledger, voor Mus/Com Walk the Line, Witherspoon en Phoenix. Bijrollen Weisz en Giamatti, regisseur Ang lee, scenario Brokeback Mountain , score en song Brokeback Mountain. Buitenlands Paradise Now. Ik kijk vooral per categorie, niet als geheel. Daardoor heeft Brokeback nu wel erg veel, ik weet niet of dat realistisch is.

	De nominaties voor de Razzies zijn ook bekend. Son of the Mask en, helaas voor Patch, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo hebben allebei 7 nominaties. Voor slechtste film zijn naast deze twee pareltjes ook Dirty Love, House of Wax en The Dukes of Hazzard in de race. Tom Cruise (WotW) is genomineerd voor slechtste acteur, samen met Will Ferrell, Jamie Kennedy, The Rock en Rob Schneider. Jessica Alba, Hilary Duff, Jennifer Lopez, Tara Reid en Jenny McCarthy mogen uitmaken wie het beste Halle Berry kan imiteren.
