I read this on another site... it was someone's opinion and theory of what could have happened, and it's reasonable. It pertains to Natalie's families' thoughts. PLEASE remember this was not written by me!!
Is This What They Are Hiding???
Try THIS scenario on for size.....
--- Natalee planned to spend the entire last night with Joran and I think her friends knew and when she didn't show for the plane they told the nephews - who then relayed the info to their mom (Natalee's Aunt) before the MB kids ever left Aruba.
--- The Twittys really thought that Natalee was still in Aruba with Joran and they would go and get her. I'm sure nightmares of Jennifer Wilbanks and Natalee being compared came immediately to mind - and the Twitty PR machine went straight into damage control mode.
- This explains the media ban for the kids and the photo ban and the odd comment from the US official (can't remember who that was) about the "unique situation" the family knew about.
- It explains the canned and impersonal Natalee is a great kid bio we have heard over and over. The listing of her many good qualities, her church work, her sweetness, her naive and trusting nature, but not a word about her personally - the things we usually hear about missing girls. They prepared a bio not for a missing Natalee, but a shamed and worthy of forgiveness, taken advantage of Natalee.
- This explains why the Twittys know EXACTLY when and where Natalee met Joran and Beth's insisting on going straight to Joran's house as soon as they had a firm ID. It also explains why Beth Twitty seemed more far more angry than sad in the beginning. Demanding Joran tell her where her daughter was - sure that Natalee would be found and come home with them.
- It explains why the Twittys and the Holloways each had set up a PR person in the US before they left, why they seemed so organized and thorough and buttoned up from day 1 AND why the Twitty's got a private plane to take them to Aruba (and bring them back ...out of the public eye, away from the media ...with Natalee).
--- They were setting up to cover and minimize a brief and rather embarrassing disappearance as a sort of "lovesick, taken advantage of, sweet talked, young girl" - under the influence of a mesmerizing Aruban "man about town" - somehow been coerced and romanced into staying in Aruba. Since it had already hit the media (thanks to the chaperone) I think they were trying to avoid another Jennifer Wilbanks type story about their daughter and her "wild" Aruba adventure....with pictures.
--- And sadly, I don't think it really "hit" Natalee's family that Joran did not "have" Natalee tucked away somewhere until about day 5 or 6 - also explaining the bizarre choice of "Kidnapped" on the posters better (and more logically) than the lame "we thought it would get more attention" story they later told and the vehement "my daughter had her bags packed and was ready to come home" statement by Beth - which in this scenario makes total sense, putting the blame on Joran for leading a naive Natalee astray when she was obviously "ready to come home".
--- This scenario also would explain Aruban LE's delay in arresting the boys and instead tracking them and their calls. It even explains Deepak's odd statement after the boys were questioned the 1st time that he expected Natalee to show up on ladies night. After hearing the Twittys story, Aruban LE might have been convinced Natalee WAS hiding out somewhere and Joran and the Kalpoes knew where so they would just watch and wait for them to lead them to Natalee.
--- It has now turned into something far different though and the stories have been explained in other terms (that don't quite fit- which is why they set off a few hinky meters). And the Twitty's are now in the midst of a nightmare that they didn't see coming - and could NOT have prepared for.
Look back on everything we know in the light of this scenario. It just fits everything that happened and it neatly answers every question about the Twitty's actions and behaviors and responses that seemed so "odd". They aren't odd at all if this is what they were hiding - are still hiding, since the situation turned out to be not at all what they had prepared so carefully for.
Anyone else here think I might have figured it out? The pieces all fall right into place, don't they???
