Nog een vraagje: gaat Tokyo nog gestreamd worden op aol?
quote:The Live 8 concerts attracted a peak audience of 9.6 million viewers on BBC One on Saturday evening.
The channel's live coverage of the global concerts won an average audience of 6.6 million.
Rock band Pink Floyd's album sales soared by 1,343% after their comeback appearance at London's Live 8 concert.
Performers The Who and Annie Lennox also registered big sales increases. Meanwhile the BBC received 400 complaints after onstage swearing.
BBC apology
Saturday's Live 8 ratings failed to match the 20.7 million UK viewers who watched England's football defeat to Portugal in Euro 2004 last June.
They were also beaten by last year's finale of ITV1's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, which drew an average of 10.9 million viewers.
The 10 Live 8 concerts, aimed at putting pressure on the G8 leaders who are meeting in Gleneagles in Scotland, were broadcast by TV stations across the world.
More than 140 TV channels showed the events, along with some 400 radio stations, and internet streams.
Organisers estimated that 85% of the world's population would have been able to tune into the event.
Madonna and US star Snoop Dogg were among those to use bad language prior to the 2100 BST watershed.
The BBC, which did not use a time delay during the broadcast, apologised for the swearing.
A spokeswoman for the BBC said it had received "just under" 400 complaints about its Live 8 coverage.
She added: "Millions of people enjoyed our 12 hours of live broadcasting.
"We are sorry if any offence was caused."
The number of Live 8 complaints exceeded the 240 complaints made to the BBC in May concerning its new 3D TV weather map.
And the corporation received 47,000 complaints before broadcasting Jerry Springer the Opera on 8 January, when hundreds of protesters rallied outside BBC buildings.
Current acts such as Razorlight and singer Joss Stone also enjoyed increased music sales following their Live 8 appearances.
Increased record sales for Live 8 performers, compared with sales last Sunday, were good news for "iconic acts" including Pink Floyd, according to HMV's Gennaro Castaldo.
"Even allowing for the relative nature of this exercise, where back catalogue sales of the more established acts are being measured from a fairly low base, this snapshot shows that Live 8 is having a marked effect on sales - just like its predecessor 20 years ago," he said.
Mr Castaldo added that the effect would become more pronounced during this week.
Ik bedoel, zou hardstikke mooi zijn, maar om zoveel te vragen is misschien een beetje te veel van het goede.quote:Geldof's Final Command to G8 Leaders
Live 8 co-organizer Sir Bob Geldof shocked the G8 leaders on the eve of Saturday's historic rock gigs - by demanding an extra $50 billion to rebuild the world's poorest countries. The charismatic rocker urged politicians to stamp out the spiraling debt and end trade injustice in the developing world, by writing an open letter to them begging for extra money. His letter, published in Saturday's British newspapers, reads, "Let this be absolutely clear before the first note is played. Everyone taking part in these concerts is there because the many generations watching will not tolerate the further pain of the poor while we have the means to prevent it. We will not applaud half-measures, or politics as usual. This must be a historic breakthrough. Do not disappoint us. Do not betray the desires of billions and the hopes of the poorest of our world. Deliver an extra $25 billion aid for Africa and ensure this aid really will be effective at eradicating poverty. This must stand beside a further $25 billion for the other poorest countries of the world."
Mwah.

http://www.nypost.com/gossip/pagesix.htmquote:July 6, 2005 -- MADONNA and Mariah Carey performed at London's Live 8 concert urging debt forgiveness for African nations — but Her Madgesty can't seem to forgive Carey for some unknown slight.
Our backstage snitch overheard Madonna telling an underling that she wanted to be kept "far away" from Carey during the star-studded extravaganza in Hyde Park over the July Fourth weekend.
"Just let me know when she leaves her trailer, because that's when I'm outta here," Madonna seethed, according to our intrepid earwitness. "I want to be kept as far away from her as possible."
Another behind-the-scenes brouhaha at the London concert involved Rod Stewart's club-hopping daughter, Kimberly, and Sting. When a staffer asked Kimberly if she wanted to relax in Sting's spacious trailer, she refused, saying that he and her father did not get along.
"That guy's a [bleep]hole," Kimberly snapped, according to our source. "I'm not going in his trailer." Daddy Rod famously mocked Sting in 2003 as "Mr. Serious who helps the Indians," a reference to the singer's Rainforest Foundation.
The musical highlight was surely the reunion of '70s supergroup Pink Floyd — the first time guitaristDavid Gilmour, bassist Roger Waters, drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Richard Wright had appeared onstage together since 1981.
But Steppin' Out magazine's Chaunce Hayden reports that longtime rivals Gilmour and Waters "wouldn't even look at each other backstage. They refused to talk to each other."
That's not to say that no one was enjoying themselves across the Pond. Paris Hilton and fiancé Paris Latsis, Brittany Murphy and Kimberly Stewart were all smiles as a funny-smelling cigarette was passed around among them, Hayden reports.
Meanwhile, some performers at the Live 8 concert in Philadelphia — which featured Bon Jovi, Toby Keith, Stevie Wonder, Will Smith and Destiny's Child — were said to have lost their cool because of inadequate air conditioning in the VIP areas.
"The only air conditioning in the place, including the trailers, was in the AOL tent. Everyone watched the concert from a TV in there. Thank God for corporate sponsorship!" said one sweaty spy.

Wat een onzin zeg. Was het idee van Live 8 niet juist dat zoveel mogelijk mensen erbij betrokken worden?quote:Op woensdag 6 juli 2005 18:10 schreef its_me_ het volgende:
