bron: Skysportsquote:Stoke City goalkeeper Ed De Goey has signed a contract extension with the Championship club.
The 38-year-old has signed a new one-year contract after discussions with new Potters boss Johan Boskamp.
The former Sparta Rotterdam, Feyenoord and Chelsea custodian was considering his options this summer, with a number of clubs interested in the Dutchman.
Dutch Eredivisie new boys Heracles Almelo were thought to have offered De Goey a deal to return to the Netherlands, while sources in Holland suggested that West Ham United were also keen on the keeper.
However, De Goey has decided to continue has career at The Britannia Stadium and will compete for the Stoke number one jersey with Steve Simonsen and young Ben Foster.
Another player aiming to extend his Stoke career is veteran defender Gerry Taggart.
The 34-year-old is hoping to pen a 12-month deal of his own with The Potters before hanging up his boots next summer.
"I've spoken to (director of football) John Rudge and the new manager and something will happen in the next few weeks, one way or the other," Taggart told the club's official website.
"I've never stated that I wanted to leave the club and I'm hopeful that a deal can be done and I'm sure over the next week or so we'll be having words and we'll take it from there."

quote:Newcastle striker Craig Bellamy today sprang a major surprise when he opted for a move to Blackburn.
The 25-year-old Welshman, who has been vigorously pursued by Champions League qualifiers Everton, Scottish Cup winners Celtic and Aston Villa, is understood to have decided to renew his relationship with former Wales boss Mark Hughes at Ewood Park, subject to a medical.
His transfer would mark a major coup for Rovers.
Bellamy's decision brings an end to a saga which has been running since his infamous bust-up with Magpies boss Graeme Souness, ironically the man who made way for Hughes at Blackburn when he took up his post at St James' Park last September.
