Magnum Powers' supercharger for the Ford Lightning SVT is a 1.8L (112 cubic inch) 2 cycle roots that achieves high performance not by size but through efficient high-speed operation. Our unique design extends the supercharger's volumetric efficiency from 12,000 rpm to 24,000 rpm allowing the supercharger to be spun hard creating boost levels normally obtained only by larger superchargers. Due to our unique port design volumetric efficiency increases with rpm therefore the supercharger works best when running at very high PRM, that is in the RPM band where the 3 cycle Eaton looses volumetric efficiency and begins to generate additional heat. It should be kept in mind therefore to achieve best performance the Magnum Powers Supercharger must be spun hard and fast.
Below is a rear wheel dyno chart of a Lightning with a stock block, stock heads and stock cams with all normal bolt-ons including headers, high flow exhaust, and single-blade throttle body and 12" air filter. The blower is spun with a 8 3/4 " lower and a 2.70 upper pulley on the street and for this dyno pull. Results show
501 rwhp and 590 rwtq. For the dyno pull the L was running race gas and a race tune at 18-PSI manifold pressure. Reliable street operation at the same boost level has been realized with a more conservative tune. In the cold winter months you might consider lowering the manifold pressure by running a larger blower pulley. Magnum Powers has a 2.9" made for that purpose.
