They began negotiations with Sam Raimi. Anyway, Senator International is doing the new series of "Evil Dead" movies. And nope, Bruce Campbell - besides a cameo I assume - isn't going to playing Ash. Not sure whether that's the financing parties decision or Raimi's. Guessing the suits made the call. One name being thrown about for the part of Ash is a guy named Justin Theroux from "Charlies Angels: Full Throttle" and "Mulholland Drive". Will be interesting to see how the fans take to him and the new start in general".

Als ik dit zo lees, fan van de films en de heren Raimi en Campbell zijnde, denk ik dat dit een zeer SLECHT plan is.

Bruce Campbell is rumored to be producing with Sam Raimi, and neither one is expected at this point to direct or be in the movie. I hope that as time passes this turns out to be untrue since both have gobs of talent and could make this movie top notch. The nominal plot involves five vacationing college kids (Ash played by Bruce Campbell, his girlfriend Linda, and their classmates Cheryl, Scott and Shelly) making an unplanned stopover in an abandoned mountain cabin surrounded by impenetrable woods. Before settling in for the night, they come across an ancient-looking occult tome filled with dense hieroglyphics and macabre illustrations, a dagger fashioned from human bones, and a reel-to-reel tape recorder.
Het lijkt me wel een interessant idee. Ik vraag me alleen af of ze het niet te traditioneel maken wat betreft cameragebruik en performance van Ash. Hoewel dat met Sean William Scott wel mee zal vallen, alleen ben ik bang dat het dan al meteen TE grappig wordt.
Maar goed, ik sta er niet afwijzend tegenover, hoewel ik er ook niet veel vertrouwen in heb.
Waarom maken ze niet gewoon een deel 4. Scriptje schrijven, even een maandje bij elkaar zitten, lekker low budget, wat effecten in post-production toevoegen en klaar. Lijkt me een veel interessanter idee.

Ben benieuwd. Idd jammer dat ze geen deel 4 plannen....met BC als Ash in de toekomst a la Planet of the apes maar dan met demonen ipv apen. Zal wel budgetair zijn.............

Kijk dat is nog eens leuk nieuws.
Die remake zie ik eigenlijk ook wel zitten. Als het net zoals Dawn of the Dead is en The Texas Chain Saw Massacre dan krijgen we eigenlijk gewoon twee nieuwe Evil Dead films.

Dark Horizons sprak met Ted Raimi, broer van Evil Dead regisseur Sam Raimi, en hij zegt het volgende over de remake van die film:
"Yes, I have this to say about it: there won't be one as far as I know. That's all I know. I mean there might be, there might be one but as far as I can tell there isn't. Nothing's going on with it at the moment."

ik vond 'm wel leuk, leuke shots af en toe, maar ik had meer humor verwacht en eng was ie ook al niet. Ik snap dat het een cultfilm is maar ik vind 'm een beetje overgewaardeerd.
