De familie heeft al ervaring met dat soort zaken: toen Britney vorig jaar ‘voor de grap’ trouwde met haar jeugdvriend Jason Alexander. Het huwelijk werd al na 55 uur ontbonden, maar kostte Britney 80.000 dollar en een Porsche.

(CBS) Britney Spears and Kevin Federline are still not legally married despite a weekend ceremony that was such a surprise not even the parents and bridesmaids knew they were going to a wedding.

Jess Cagle, People magazine senior editor and contributor to The Early Show,
"A lot was complicated because they moved up the date and next week, they’re going to file all of the paper work," he said.

So they’re not legally married now? "Not yet, although they have sort of followed everything by the book and that is the next bump in the story that you’re going to see: The wedding was a fake. It’s really not."

Spears was able to keep the wedding a surprise, Cagle said, because "she kept her mouth shut." In fact, it was such a surprise that Federline’s children, including his daughter who was supposed to be a flower girl, were at Disneyland and couldn’t be there for the wedding.

"The mother, the sister, the father. They showed up at the house. It was not an engagement party that they had been invited to, but a wedding," Cagle said. People magazine will have exclusive photos of the wedding in its Friday issue.

Cagle described it as a classic affair with the bride wearing a tasteful, white $26,000 designer gown.

"All of the groomsmen and the bridesmaids had had their clothes fitted the week before so those clothes were secretly brought to the house," Cagle said. "They said, 'Surprise, we’re getting married, here are your clothes. Get in them.'"

The sweatsuits that had been described and pictured in the media were worn at the party that followed the wedding, Cagle said. “Everyone had beautiful clothes during the ceremony. After the ceremony, Britney had put on something else and then before they all went out partying later after the reception, they all put on juicy sweats."

Also untrue are reports of a cash bar at the reception. "I think after they all went out to a club, maybe some people paid for their drinks,"
Cagle said. "However, they did get a drink free at the house after the reception."

Spears reportedly was reluctant to require Federline to sign a prenuptial agreement as her advisers had recommended. "She has agreed on a pre-nup with Kevin and they have signed their marriage license," Cagle said.

Spears, who has spent some time with Federline’s two children, already has said she wants to to become a mother fairly soon. Cagle says she also is considering changing her name to Britney Federline.

Een woordvoerder van het paar erkende dat er geen huwelijksvergunning was aangevraagd. Maar volgens de wet heeft een kersvers paar tien dagen de tijd het huwelijk officieel te laten bezegelen.

Het Amerikaanse weekblad Us presenteerde woensdag een document waaruit zou blijken dat de bruiloft opzettelijk nep was. Volgens het blad ondertekenden Spears en Federline een overeenkomst om op 18 september voor de grap te trouwen.

In januari liet de 22-jarige Spears haar verbintenis met een jeugdvriend na 55 uur annuleren.

Zangeres Britney Spears zou haar vrienden hebben verteld dat ze een kindje verwacht. Volgens de laatste geruchten is de pasgetrouwde zangeres al acht weken zwanger.

Haar zwangerschap zou dan ook de reden zijn dat de huwelijksplannen werden omgegooid. Britney zou oorspronkelijk eind november met Kevin Federline in het huwelijksbootje stappen, tijdens een trouwfeest met alles erop en eraan. Maar in plaats daarvan trouwden de twee vorige week stiekem in Los Angeles.

Volgens een vriend van Britney is niemand behalve familie en vrienden op de hoogte, en is de zangeres dolblij met het vooruitzicht dat ze moeder wordt.

Britney Spears weds Kevin Federline on the cheap as tracksuited guests munch on mini-cheeseburgers and pay for their own drinks.

Britney Spears said last week that she wanted 'a fairytale wedding'. But when she tied the knot with dancer Kevin Federline last Saturday, the ceremony was an even trashier affair than her first wedding earlier this year. Britney, 22 -who once said she would be a virgin until her wedding night-wore a long veil and a tiara with a white strapless gown made for her by designer Monique L'Huillier. She also dyed her blonde hair brown for the ceremony, held in a marquee in the garden of a rented house near Los Angeles. Bridegroom Kevin, 26, wore a tuxedo.

But guests at the wedding reception were shocked to be asked to change into ill-fitting tracksuits - pink ones for the women marked 'Maids' and white ones marked 'Pimps' for the men. They were even asked to pay for their own drinks to wash down the burgers that were served up. 'It was the tackiest of weddings,' said one.'They had mini-cheeseburgers as appetisers and chicken strips which tasted like fish sticks. 'Everyone had to sign something saying that they wouldn't take pictures. And when we first arrived, Britney made everyone change out of their wedding outfits and into tracksuits, some of which were far too big and baggy. We thought it was a joke.' Guests didn't go home empty-handed, however. They left clutching goody bags that included a pair of shoelaces and a keyring featuring a picture of the bride and groom.

Britney and Kevin partied the night away wearing matching white tracksuit at Xes nightclub.n LA. Britney also performed a provocative pole dance for cheering onlookers.

The wedding took Britney's family and close friends by surprise. Invitations had reportedly gone out for a wedding later this year in the Santa Barbara area- and even her mum Lynne didn't know until the last minute that it was being brought forward. There's been speculation that Britney wanted to wed quickly because she's pregnant.

Britney's reportedly worth £55 million, but this wedding was even tackier than her first marriage in January to childhood friend Jason Alexander. Then, the couple wed at a roadside chapel in Las Vegas after a boozy night out. Bride Britney walked up the aisle in a baseball cap and torn jeans and was escorted by a casino limousine driver.

After the ceremony, which shocked the world, Britney's record label hastily issued a statement saying that the couple had taken a joke too far. The marriage lasted just 55 hours before being annulled.

Britney first fell for Kevin in April after meeting him in a Hollywood club. At the time, Kevin's girlfriend Shar Jackson was pregnant with their second child. But that didn't stop Kevin getting together with Britney and she proposed to him a few weeks later while on a plane from Ireland to New York. Announcing her engagement, Britney, who had a two-year romance with Justin Timberlake, said: 'I kissed a bunch of frogs and finally found my prince.'
