French side St Etienne have won the race to take Liverpool youngster Anthony Le Tallec on loan for the coming season.
New Reds boss Rafa Benitez had decided against including the 19-year-old is his plans for the season, and thought he would be better served by a loan move.
Big things are still expected of Le Tallec but a season of regular action in the French top-flight is seen as more beneficial than the odd appearance off the bench at Anfield.
Several clubs were looking to secure the services of the France Under-21 international, but Lens and Sochaux have lost out to St Etienne.
The Ligue 1 newcomers are looking to cement their status in the top flight once again and Les Verts have promised the youngster some regular action.
"I wanted people to see me and to be able to play for an entire season," said Le Tallec.
"I think at St Etienne I will have the chance to do that."
Le Tallec has previously been on loan at Le Harve after The Reds bought him in 2002, but he did break into Gerard Houllier's first team last season, making 23 appearances.
He will now be hoping to impress the new boss Benitez by starring for his new club this season.
quote:GERRARD INJURED IN REDS WIN
Liverpool are sweating over the fitness of skipper Steven Gerrard after he picked up a thigh injury in his side's friendly win over Roma.
Gerrard limped off with a thigh injury six minutes before the interval as Liverpool ended their tour of North America with a 2-1 win over the Italian giants in New Jersey.
Michael Owen's late goal secured the win for The Reds after Djibril Cisse had cancelled out Marco Delvecchio's early opener.
Delvecchio struck the opener for Roma on 21 minutes with a simple finish from close-range.
Cisse levelled matters on the half hour mark with a simple tap-in from six yards for his third goal for the club.
New Liverpool defender Josemi made his debut as a second half substitute and he played as right back.
Liverpool won the game five minutes from time with Dietmar Hamann breaking through the Roma defence before setting up Owen to lash the ball home.
Gerrard took a knock to his thigh and was taken off as a precautionary matter and Reds boss Rafa Benitez is hopeful the injury is not too serious.
"Steven has a little problem but I am hopeful it isn't too serious," said Benitez. "The club doctor will have a look at him when we get back to Liverpool."
Liverpool will be keen to have Gerrard fit as they begin their UEFA Champions League campaign next week against AK Graz and then The Premiership at Tottenham in just ten days.
Opzouten met Everton spelers op Anfield!quote:Liverpool 'eye Gravesen'
Liverpool are interested in signing unsettled Everton midfielder Thomas Gravesen, according to reports.
Cash-strapped Everton are understood to want Ŗ3.5m for the 28-year-old, who has one year left to run on his contract.
"We've heard the rumours about Gravesen but the manager is keen to keep him," insisted an Everton spokesperson.
And Gravesen's agent John Sivebaek told BBC Sport he had not been contacted by Liverpool: "I've haven't heard anything yet but it might come later."
Gravesen might welcome a move to Anfield as he has become frustrated with Everton's failure to bring in new players.
Everton boss David Moyes, who faces a new Premiership campaign with a depleted squad, wants to hold onto Gravesen.
But Sivebaek revealed other clubs were looking at the Danish international.
"He's a good player and a lot of clubs are very interested in him," said Sivebaek.
"But he's got a year to go and if Everton don't want to sell him you can't do anything.
"It's a difficult situation with all these stories but he is happy at Everton."
If Gravesen did move across Merseyside, Everton could use the money to step up their interest in West Ham midfielder Michael Carrick.
Portsmouth, Crystal Palace and Everton boss David Moyes are all in the chase to sign the highly-rated 23-year-old.
Everton manager David Moyes said: "Michael Carrick is one player we would certainly be interested in if we had the money to buy him.
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez would also benefit as he wants to bolster his midfield after injury ended Valdimir Smicer's season and Steven Gerrard aggravated his hamstring.
