http://www.prweb.com/releases/2004/6/prweb136002.htm(PRWEB) June 24, 2004 -- Television production and distribution entity ACT I Entertainment, a joint venture of Alpine Pictures, Inc (www.alpinepix.com) has announced that it is set to complete the production of John Entwistle: An Ox's Tale, a 90 minute documentary about the extraordinary life of late "Who" bassist. Entwistle became an icon as a songwriter and performer before his tragic death in 2002. Act I will also handle worldwide distribution.
Brought to company president Glenn Aveni by Entwistle friend and drummer of The Entwistle Band Steve Loungo, the project, which Entwistle began with Loungo prior to his death, contains original never seen before footage of what was destined to become the legendary life of Entwistle beginning with his first public performance at the age of 14 years old to his explosion into the music scene as a pivotal member of The Who in 1964 until his tragic passing when he was found dead in a Las Vegas hotel room on the eve before highly-anticipated The Who's North American Reunion Tour premiere.
Known as The Quiet One as his bandmates Daltry, Townsend and Moon took the spotlight with their on-stage antics, Thunder-Fingers and, most affectionately, The Ox, Entwistle continued to follow his own path to musical freedom following the demise of The Who forming The John Entwistle Band.
John Entwistle: An Ox's Tale contains the last footage and interviews ever shot with Entwistle. "It is a rare chance for fans worldwide to discover the real life behind the man who far exceeded his greatest aspirations" shares Ryan Carroll CEO of Alpine Pictures Inc. John Entwisle was quoted as saying "I'd like to be remembered as someone who helped change the face of bass guitar…"
And now, taking on a life of its own under the creative hands of the, ACT I Entertainment team, executive producer Aveni states "An Ox's Tale is the definitive story of John Entwistle that will appeal to fans of Entwistle, The Who, Bass players, and musicians". The tribute documentary is set to include footage and exclusive interviews with some of Entwistle's most revered peers in the music industry to others that never met him but were forever affected by his talent.
With full access to the Entwistle foundation and estate facilitated by Loungo who serves as consecutor, John Entwistle: An Ox's Tale will also include rare Entwistle footage such as his performance at Woodstock with his band in 1999, to view his personal home movies and to listen to new music by the legend himself.
Slated to wrap production summer 2004, John Entwistle: An Ox's Tale is already garnering theatrical interest from the United States, Canada and Europe.
