2nd October 2003 - And finally !
At last, the news that we know a lot of you have been waiting what seems like an eternity for. After almost twelve months of recording, writing, rewriting and even more recording the time has finally come to put the finishing touches to the new album and get down to some serious mixing and post production. The album is to be mixed at the Damage Inc Studio in Italy with the help of Dario Mollo, with our very own Kevin Ridley overseeing the knob twiddling, work is due to start this week and hopefully we will have some MP3's up on the site very soon for you all to listen to. The studio has been used in the past for production and recording by the likes of Anathema, Cradle of Filth, Tony Martin (Black Sabbath) and Glen Hughes etc, so we are looking forward to this being one of the best sounding albums to date.The album title as we have already mentioned is going to be "A Semblance of Normality" and the aptness of this title is becoming more apparent to us week by week as things just keep getting more bizarre in the Skyclad camp!
In keeping with the bizarre theme is the collaboration of Skyclad and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and yes you did read that right! In true Skyclad fashion we always like to try something a bit different on each album so on several of the new tracks we have fourteen top class musicians from one of the worlds best known orchestras performing the string arrangements of the soon to be legendary classical writing team of Ramsey/Biddle. This strange collaboration was put to tape (or should that be hard disc) this Tuesday (September 30th) in London's Eden Studios, the recording went as we expected and turned out pretty amazing, we feel that this has provided the 'icing' to an already tasty cake! And as proof to you all that it is most definitely not keyboards we have included a picture below of the event.
We all feel that we have finally reached the home straight now of an album that has turned out to be something of an epic undertaking and we thank you all for sticking with us, you'll soon be able to hear the result of all this hard work right here, keep watching for more info soon.
