Ik ben net terug uit Dublin. Wat een asociaal dure stad is dat zeg!
Hieronder wat tips die ik ontving van een uitgaansfreak (vr) uit Dublin zelf:
SOUTH OF LIFFEY
Most ppl would say if you're a tourist head to Temple Bar... Good atmostphere but nicknamed little england as is full of hens and stag parties over from UK, cheesey places but good for a giggle.
Coming from O’Connell Street, cross the bridge-
First place you will see will be Redz- avoid it! same goes for Sin... dark lil clubs full of rif raf next is:
Q-BAR - Cheesey and difficult to get into !!!
seriously this must be the brightest lit pub in Dublin. Drink is expensive but cocktails are good !
That's if you can get into the place. I've never had hastle but always hear guys complain about the doormen.
downstairs 'lounge?' that is huge. Big dance floor, comfy seats... all uv lights etc... music is good
It looks good from the outside and the odd night you can have a giggle but be warned if there is a que outside- dont even bother.....
These are some more classier chilled places, I think you'd enjoy them

Ask anyone how to get to Central Bank… this is a notorious meeting place as it’s between Temple Bar and Dame Street. Once you’re on Dame street you’ll have options of loads of bars, most of them are all alike. Wood floors(some with chewing gum, cigy burns etc lol) but all good craic, good pints and great places to start your evening.
With your back to trinity college head up the street on right hand side. Plenty of Bars here: The Oak, Brogans, Thomas Reids etc etc… good pints and proper Dublin pubs !!!
Back down dame street - ask someone where Georges street is but dont allow them to send you to the George itself... unless that's ur sort of thing.... it's dublins largest Gay bar !
DAME LANE-
Facing the George you’ll see a lane, walk up it and soon you’ll come to a door on the right hand side, usually have a door man outside so simple enough to find!
Dame Lane, god it’s been years since I’ve been there but if you go upstairs it’s quite nice. Chilled atmosphere again wood floors but smart casual feel. Good drinx and music J
SoSuMe - Georges St Dublin 2.... back down towards the George and on same side, walk up the street and you will soon find Sosume!
Dublin’s hottest new chill out bar. Mixed crowds, ageing from 20’s to mid 30’s, relaxed atmosphere with background music, . Small from outside but once in has an open and airy feeling, with some very eye catching décor. 2 floors 3 bars I think :s
selection of over 50 beers from around the world line the fridges, with a good choice of wine, cocktails and cigars also available from the bar. Unusual Japanese paintings everywhere and um a big giant fish tank on way in lol
Love this pub, gr8 atmosphere , cool decor and pretty people, can be bit young sometimes but so big inside, if you're early enough you will find a corner to call your own, great spot!
Not sure if you like Indian but Japiur is a fantabulous restaurant accross from Sosome as you are walking to Capitol !!!
CAPITOL - 2minute walk from Sosume further up the road and on opposite side.
Much smaller venue but gr8 for either starting or ending a night.
Yet another bar in Dublin certainly going for retro style. Crowd can be a mix of youngish and not so youngish during the week as it tries to find its niche. An interesting place that isn't exactly sure of what sort of crowd it wants or is getting. Promising though.
On Plus side-GR8 4 drinx !!!!!! cheap cocktails, shot promos - good staff and very good music..(friend djs there lol)
There’s a lane (or a turn lol) in between Capitol and Japuir, head down there and it’ll bring you toward grafton street. Along the way there are cafes and a few good bars !
Ask anyone where DAKOTA & AKA are- think you’d really like them -Young 20 somethings (rich students spring to mind) seem to make up the clientele. More muted than most pubs, it has relaxed air about it.
They’re en route to Grafton St also and both cool chilled bar/cafes J
If you can find this street during the day again (or just ask someone lol) you should check out Powerscourt TownHouse. Lil Shopping mall smelling of rich coffee has yummy food, galleries, over priced but fun lil shops.
Grafton Street …
Infamous for it’s shops tho’ very very expensive !!!
Check out St. Stephens Greene Shopping Centre ! Go upstairs to TKMaxx and you’ll find some top labels for cheap

Have a wander around all floors, think you’ll like it!
There are side streets off grafton street which each have bars and cafes restaurants etc….
THE BAILEY -Just off Grafton street. cool modern and trendy bar.
usually chill here during day if out shopping in and around Grafton st. Good wine.
inside the decor is minimalist with leather seats. Pints are expensive but service is fine.
clientle are generally mid-twenties early thirties crowd. The atmosphere is laid back and reserved, even though the music encourages you to bop. apparently the mens toilet is very small, you'll know what I mean!
The Bailey also has seats and coverings outside with heating which is handy for smokers and also a must in ireland as the no smoking ban is in effect.
COCOON - out of Bailey- back to Grftn st, walk straight and take a left wait or is it a right... eeeesk
neways, cocoon and the Bailey can be pretty difficult to get into sometimes. This end of town is dublin celeb land but play your cards right and you'll be fine. White walls, expensive drinks, comfy leather seating.... nice place if not a bit pompus.
DAWSON STREET (just off grafton st)
This street is more how can I put it…. Uppity?
Very wanabe upper class but the venues are gr8 just some of the ppl can be laking lol
CAFE EN SAINE:
The dress code is mainly stylish. The ppl are martini drinkers ie: the beautiful ppl.
At night, we have noticed at times that large queues do form to enter. The decor in Cafe En Seine is marvellous and as it has been said to have been the most expensive refurbishment in Dublin. The barstaff are really good tho the ques do get long there 2. Drink IS expensive! They serve food too and serve late upstairs.
So, if you like drinking in stylish surroundings and are not overly worried about going home with empty pockets, this would be a great place for a night out with friends.
There are also two or three tables with seating outside which if you smoke you can avail of but you wouldn't really be inclined to spend a cold night sitting at them just for the sake of a smoke.
SAMSARA:
Walking towards St. Stephens Greene, on the same side as Café en Saine you will find Samsara. Long bar, palm trees, again pretty people but less pretentious !
They do Fantabulous Cosmos and other cocktails… HUGE glasses J Yummmmi
At some stage you’ll have to check out Temple bar! Main tourist attraction and plenty of bars as said b4 J
Great restaurants and well priced J Luigi Malones rocks. I always eat there if in Temple bar. Elefant & Castle you soooooo need to check out the Chicken Wings! Infamous for them!!!!
Temple Bar also has everything from Hardrock café, thunder road café, Eliza Blues, Tante Zoes, The Quays bar, The temple bar, the music centre, Eamon Dorans(ownd by hughey from fun lovn criminals)….
NORTH OF THE LIFFEY
There is a bar north of the liffey, just across the Ha’penny Bridge and to the left called Zanzibar- it’s quite like samsara décor wise but less uppity. Has 2 floors, Large dance floor at rear of bar, good setting, nice ppl nice drinks and upstairs at the back they have a cocktail bar that’s pretty bo J
Back to where you came across the bridge….
Bar called PRAVDA- kinda has a boat theme thing goin on. Nice enough, not too comfy tho.
K3 is just down the road(walking away from bridge) Looks dark as you go in but it’s lovely inside. Comfy seats upstairs, good music and drink J
During the day on this road there is a ‘FOOD HALL’
They do everything from Bagel shops, to Istanbul food, pizzas, seafood market, American grub… you get the picture- Yummi Yummi well priced and you’re sure to find pancakes there lol
Here we go- as if you’ve just walked through the food court… ie: up the road and take a right lol
You’ll soon find TRAFFIC. Light walls, comfy leather seats, seating outside 2 for smokers, upstairs is the night club downstairs is great for drinks.
Next door is the infamous :
SPIRIT NITECLUB !
20euro admission !!! The club sports 4 floors. Ground floor has a cineama(usually where ppl roll spliffs), chill out picnic area? Dance floor seats etc etc… next floor up – HUGE dance floor with the bar goin around it. has pro dancers and acrobats stilt walkers etc…
Next floor up is VIP but trust me- don’t worry if you don’t get up, ppl are usually pumpn sweat off their heads on E/Coke The seating is all reserved the dance floor well is there one lol and the drinx are evn pricier !!!!
If all that gets a bit much you can always go to the basement and have a massage!
They do Tarot cards, Massages, Face Painting …. Proper chill out place….
During the day Henry Street is where you should go shopping if on the northside.
Nice shops and half the price of Grafton Street !!!
