The album was inspired by the "Hip Pop" movement. I've found that people expect a certain production style from me. "Politics" is not the typical "Prince Paul" record...It's not the De La, Gravediggaz , Handsome Boy , Stesasonic , A Prince Among Thieves, etc...it is its own entity. A good portion of people probably won't go go beyond the surface of this album or care enough to even get the meaning or irony of this project. Making "Politics" is very risky for me because the more contemporary I make my production style , the more people are less likely to accept it because it's from Prince Paul. "Politics" is an important album in my career because it will prove to me whether we base music on "surrounding factors"or "musical content". Since biting is no longer a crime i gave it a try (a painful process needless to say).
