VELVET REVOLVER's single "Set Me Free", which is featured on Decca/Universal's soundtrack to "The Hulk", is among the most-requested songs on alternative stations WBCN in Boston and KROQ in Los Angeles, according to Billboard. The group's managers, Dana Millman-DuFine and David Codikow of Immortal Entertainment, pacted with Apple's new iTunes download service to offer the single, and it's already the No. 2 most-downloaded song.

Guitarist Slash (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) said that the band want to focus on writing music and rehearsing before pursuing a record deal.

"In light of the way the music business is right now, you want to put out a record that's going to be cost-effective and distributed properly," he said. "If you're going to make a deal, you want to make the best deal you can possibly make, and if you can afford to do it yourself, it's even better. We're just looking at it from all these different directions ... I've cut my teeth on all different aspects of the wrong way to do it."

The band's management are weighing their options, including the possibility of releasing the group's debut album directly through an Internet company.

"People are talking to us, and in the next 60 days or so we're going to figure it out," Codikow said. "If radio embraces this band the way that we all hope, who's to say that you couldn't drop ship records to record stores and download them and even if you sold less, from an economic standpoint you'd still make money."

As previously reported, VELVET REVOLVER whose lineup is completed by fellow ex-Gunners Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, David Kushner of LOADED/WASTED YOUTH and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland will play their first show tonight (June 19) at Los Angeles' El Rey Theatre.

The soundtrack, released Tuesday (June 17), originally consisted only of the music score by Danny Elfman, but a deal struck last month made "Set Me Free" the only vocal song to appear on the Decca/UMG CD.

January 24:
Scott eligible for release from lockdown in July!

NBC4 Reported later yesterday about Scott's new court order to go into a new, undisclosed lockdown facility immediately. They stated a press release from the LA County District Attorney's Office as saying Scott was sent back to a 6-month live-in detox program after it was learned he left early, or was discharged after only a month in December.

He is now eligible for release in July, and has a probation progress report in court on March 5th. After his possible release in July, he will have to participate in a 6-month aftercare program.The DA's Office spokesperson made it very clear in the press statement that, if Scott walks out of this new program or tests positive for drugs, a bench warrant will be issued for his arrest, and he will go to jail. So it seems like both of those things will be treated as a violation of his probation. And as MTV reported previously, that could lead to up to a year in LA County Jail.

In a seperate hearing at the same court, Scott pleaded not guilty to a DUI charge (stemming from 10/27/2003). He has to come back to court for that matter on Feb 5th.

Let's hope Scott can hang in there and kick his demons, and complete the full program this time. I don't know how all of this will affect the band's plans to tour, or release their single 'Slither' (3/08) and 'album 'Contraband' (5/11), but I know his life and wellbeing are more important than any of those things! I will post more news as it becomes available.

MTV.com reports: "Scott Weiland appeared in two separate courtrooms to address drug charges on Friday (January 23) before being ordered back into lockdown rehab. The former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman and current VELVET REVOLVER singer pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in Los Angeles Superior Court to charges of driving under the influence of drugs, stemming from his late October arrest. But because Weiland had left his court-ordered lockdown rehab last month, the singer was ordered into another six-month lockdown stint at a separate, undisclosed facility, with six months of aftercare treatment. Should Weiland walk away from this round of rehab, or test positive for drug use, a bench warrant will be issued for his arrest. His next progress report is scheduled for March 5."

Ook staat er een stuk van de video clip voor "Slither"....elke week een stukje geloof....

Het nummer zelf klinkt wel tof....duidelijk Slash op de gitaar. Ik denk toch dat Axl het nummer wat vetter gezongen had, maar goed dat is gewoon mijn smaak.....
