What appealed to me was for every character in the film, I could associate it to someone I grew up with. I did grow up in a small town and I was in a group of "Spetters". At that time, one of the girls known in my group had become a famous model we all wanted to be like her and have what she got. (Little did I know that four years later in 1986, she would die a horrible, lonely death and not one person would remember her like we did.) We were young, and all we could see was the fame and money. We didn't see further and lets be honest, we all wanted to leave that small town and be a big fish. When she died it was sad, but life went on. I was the one that everyone made fun of, and another girl was smart but couldn't live up to her parents expectations & didn't quite come to grips with herself as to who she was, just like this film. It opened my eyes to life quickly and I grew up while watching this sobering film.

Outstanding character-study that is unique, interesting, highly-unconventional and definitely brilliant in every way.
The film is dark in many ways, very light-hearted and funny in other ways, but always dramatic and tense. As the clock ticks, the realization occurs that this will not end well for **********
The riveting performance from *********** makes this a must see to believe. He gives a spellbinding demonstration of his range,sublety,and emotional depth as an actor and here it shows in this hard-edged authentic film from the mid-1970's.
He was a criminal, obviously. But the way the movie twists and turns, it makes you kind of forget about that, and sympathize with him. It takes you through the rocky road of his life and really kind of lets you see with his eyes.
This film will not let you down at all and at moments will make you laugh for sure, because it's so funny to see ********* slowly losing his mind with all the things going wrong. Another great performance comes from ************ . He too is losing his mind with all the things going on, but who would not? Great performances and spectacular way of giving realism to a film by ******* will surely leave you astonished.

Had gekunt (hoewel, criminal?), maar nee.
If I had known in advance what the film is about I would certainly never have watched it, which would have been a great pity. It is a most engrossing film with an absolutely great, very high-energy performance from *************.
Of course, time goes by and you grow up, and as you change you learn to watch and value films in different ways. It's not just a roller-coaster anymore. You admire the actors, you appreciate the direction, the story, you try to look at the details, there's a lot to learn by watching a movie. But now and then, a movie comes by that makes you be a kid again. You forget all about yourself and when you realize you're shaking, you're nervous and scared about what's going to happen to this guy, like your very own life depends on it.
This movie is like that.

Film making has improved over the years, and this film is choppy like Death Wish. Alot of 70's films appear grainy, compared to the work done today. This film dragged, maybe it was the mood I was in, but it dragged. I found it slow paced, and not over the top. In the end this is just another movie. 5/10
