Steven Pienaar hoopt zijn carrière op een dag voort te kunnen zetten in de Primera Division. De middenvelder, momenteel in dienst van Everton, is sinds zijn komst naar Engeland in 2007 uitgegroeid tot een waardevolle speler.

"Ik ben zeer trots dat ik mezelf speler van Everton mag noemen", zegt de oud-Ajacied tegenover Kick Off. "Een langer verblijf bij deze club sluit ik dan ook niet uit. Maar het is ook een droom van mij om ooit in Spanje te spelen. Voor een type speler als ik heeft Spanje altijd een aantrekkingskracht."

Pienaar wordt in verband gebracht met een zomertransfer naar Atletico Madrid, maar een hereniging met zijn oude maatje bij Ajax, John Heitinga, zit er niet in. "Speculaties over mijn toekomst, zijn ook speculaties", besluit Pienaar.
