De 58ste editie van Tirreno-Adriatico, die duurt van 6 tot en met 12 maart, zal beginnen met een 11,5 kilometer lange tijdrit in Lido di Camaiore. Wat opvalt, is dat de renners net als vorig jaar geen slottijdrit krijgen voorgeschoteld in de straten van San Benedetto del Tronto. De sprinters zullen de etappes naar Follonica (rit 2) en Foligno (rit 3) en San Benedetto del Tronto (rit 7) met rood hebben omcirkeld in hun agenda.
En de klimmers? Die komen aan hun trekken in de vijfde etappe van Morro d’Oro naar Sarnano-Sassotetto. In deze rit worden de hoogtemeters niet geschuwd en volgt er als toetje de dertien kilometer lange klim naar skigebied Sassotetto. Verder staan er nog twee zogeheten ‘muri-ritten’ op het programma naar Tortoreto en Osimo. In deze etappes zien we vaak een strijd tussen klimmers, puncheurs en sterke klassiekercoureurs.

12-03ETAPPE 7 San Benedetto Tronto - San Benedetto Tronto (154km)
