Da's blown away met Jones als nep-ier. Wist ik veel toen ik die film zag ,ik zat vooral naar dat U2 cassette bandje te luisteren dat steeds terugkerend was

Een paar stellingen over The Outlaw Josey Wales: waar of niet waar?
- Het succes van de film was niet handig voor de schrijver van het boek Josey Wales, ene "Forrest Carter", omdat hij in werkelijkheid een KKK-lid was geweest
- Eastwood staat als regisseur op de credits, maar ontsloeg halverwege de eigenlijke regisseur na ruzie om een vrouw
- De meeste teksten van Chief Dan George zijn geïmproviseerd omdat hij zijn tekst niet kon onthouden

- Asa Carter is de echte naam van de schrijver van het boek: The Rebel Outlaw Josey Wales. Hij was een voormalig KKK-lid gezocht voor 2 moorden die onder een valse naam speechschrijver was geweest voor een Zuidelijke presidentskandidaat die pro-apartheid was. Carter had het boek tot script verwerkt en naar de studio gestuurd. Eastwood raakte erin geïnteresseerd en zorgde ervoor dat het een bioscoopfilm werd ipv een TV-film. Hij wist toen nog niet wie "Forrest Carter" eigenlijk was, maar de kranten en tv-stations kwamen daar snel achter
- Eastwood was eerst als backer (voor het kopen van de rechten van Carter) en daarna als acteur bij de film betrokken, maar hij kreeg mot met regisseur Philip Kaufman toen beide heren het wel zagen zitten in Sondra Locke, die op voorspraak van Eastwood was gecast in de film. Locke koos voor Eastwood en nadat kleine irritaties over en weer escaleerden maakte Eastwood van zijn invloed gebruik om zelf de regisseur te worden en Kaufman weg te sturen. Niet iedereen was er even blij mee aangezien Kaufman bv zich had ingezet voor het casten van Native Americans Chief Dan George en Will Sampson
- Chief Dan George was een beetje vergeetachtig, maar kon het meeste van zijn tekst dankzij goed coachen van Eastwood er wel uit krijgen (al moest die hem soms letterlijk offscreen souffleren).
