SEGA kondigt de Mega Drive Mini 2 aan. De nieuwe retroconsole komt in oktober uit in Japan en bevat meer dan 50 games, waaronder Mega-CD-titels. Het is niet bekend of de console ook buiten Japan beschikbaar komt.
De gamebibliotheek van de Mega Drive Mini 2 bestaat uit Mega Drive- en Mega-CD-games, waaronder arcadeports en 'mysterieuze nieuwe werken', aldus VGC. SEGA maakt bekend dat in elk geval deze titels naar de Mega Drive Mini 2 komen: Silpheed, Shining Force CD, Sonic CD, Mansion of Hidden Souls, Popful Mail, Virtua Racing, Bonanzo Bros, Shining in the Darkness, Thunder Force IV, Magical Taruruto en Fantasy Zone. Die laatste is nooit eerder verschenen op de Mega Drive Mini. Het is een nieuwe Mega Drive-port op basis van de sequel Super Fantasy Zone.
In 2019 verscheen de eerste Mega Drive Mini, met 42 games, waaronder niet eerder uitgebrachte ports van Darius en Tetris. Vanaf 27 oktober is de Mega Drive Mini 2 beschikbaar in Japan voor een bedrag van 9980 yen, wat omgerekend neerkomt op 71 euro. Het is niet duidelijk of de retroconsole ook in Europa wordt uitgebracht.

Hij komt in oktober uit in Japan. Een Europese en Amerikaanse release zit er nog niet in wegens de tekort aan chips. Maar de kans is groot dat we hem ook krijgen. In een interview werd gezegd dat deze mini 20 cd spellen zal bevatten. De rest zullen normale megadrive games zijn (en dus enkele nieuwe releases). De meerprijs van de mini 2 komt dus ook voornamelijk door de extra opslagcapaciteit die nodig is. En M2 is weer betrokken voor de emulatie. Ook werd nogmaals onderstreept dst 32x, Saturn en Dreamcast mini nog totaal niet aan de orde zijn. De technologie is nog niet ver genoeg om dat betaalbaar te produceren.

Denk dat ik deze wel haal. De eerste is bij Nedgame 128 momenteel. Ook dat trekt me als ik de prijzen elders zie.

Ik snap niet waarom. Saturn te moeilijk te emuleren. Dreamcast controller lijkt me vrij prijzig na te maken. Breng gewoon die Master System mini uit en een Game Gear mini en dan ben je klaar.
