DEVELOPING: An active shooter has been reported at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Virginia, according to multiple local media outlets.

Video from the scene appeared to show a WDBJ media crew being attacked in the midst of a live report. The station confirmed the shooting involved one of its crews.

Police are reporting there are three victims, according to WSLS. The shooting occurred at 6:45 a.m., according to Franklin County Sheriff Department spokesperson Phillip Young.

WSLS said police are still looking for the shooter and hope to have a description out to the public shortly.

Moneta is about 25 miles East of Roanoke.

MONETA (WSLS 10) – Police are searching for a person who they say shot at multiple people Wednesday morning at the Bridgewater Plaza near Smith Mountain Lake.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Department’s Spokesperson Phillip Young, the shooting occurred at the Bedford County-Franklin County line in Moneta at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 26.

Police say there were three victims. The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.

WDBJ7 is reporting the shooting incident involved one of their crews and are asking for your prayers. The shooting reportedly occurred during their live shot.

According to a witness on the scene, there is a major police presence in the area – around 30 to 40 officers have responded.

Members with Bedford, Franklin County and Virginia State Police are on scene.

Police say they continue to look for the shooter at this time and are hoping to get a description out to the public shortly. This incident remains under investigation

ROANOKE, Va. -- A photographer and reporter are dead after a gunman opened fire during a live report.

Franklin County Sheriff confirmed to ABC News that an active shooter was reported in Moneta at 6:45 a.m. Local TV station WDBJ confirmed that the photographer and reporter were killed. Their names are Alison Parker and Adam Ward.

The gunman is not in custody, according to police. Schools in the area were place on lockdown in response to the situation.
