Op deze foto valt goed te zien dat brokstukken in de verre omgeving naar beneden zijn gekomen. Ook veel foto's op Twitter van allerlei brokstukken die op auto's ed terecht zijn gekomen.
Lees op reddit dat het zou gaan om een opslag v.e. chemische fabriek. Hier is iets gexplodeerd en dat zou weer andere explosies hebben getriggerd

SCMP is saying the explosion originated from "a shipment of explosives at a container berth" quote:A massive explosion rocked a key industrial area in the northeastern Chinese city of Tianjin late Wednesday night, according Chinese media.
State broadcaster China Central Television reported on its official microblog that the blast erupted in a shipment of explosives at a container berth in the Binhai New Area at about 11.30pm on Wednesday.
An unknown number of people were injured and rushed to hospital, the report said.
“All of a sudden there was a flash of big red light, and a big sound,” one online user who claimed to live near the blast site said. “And 10 seconds afterwards, there was a big wave.”
Another online user said the door of his flat was broken by a strong tremor.
China National Radio reported that cracks were visible in buildings near the site.
