Adele’s 21 becomes best-selling album of 21st centurySome people bag a few number ones, others nab a platinum-selling album – they’re all great achievements, but how good must it feel to be told your album is the biggest-selling album of the 21st century? Pretty frickin’ cool, we’d imagine. Well, lucky Adele has definitely bagged that prize with her amazing album 21 – and her pal Jessie J says she’s absolutely stoked for her.
Speaking at the Jingle Bell Ball 2011 last night, Jessie told us, “I'm so proud of how well Adele has done this year, she has achieved so much. It's been amazing. I still remember us sitting around together in her living room, singing and thinking about how we could make this in to a career - and now we have. She has an incredible voice and she deserves to have had Adele-is-on-track-to-smash-another-record/">such a great year."
Well, we totally agree – especially after poor Adele has had so much Adele-cancels-UK-tour-and-plans-throat-surgery/">trouble with her throat over the last few months.
The star’s LP was given the prestigious title of Best-Selling Album of the 21st Century by the Official Charts Company, who announced last night that 21 has actually remained in the Top 10 for 45 weeks in a row since being released!
Also 21 has sold 2,418,131 copies so far, which means it has even beaten Amy Winehouse’s incredible record Back To Black, which has sold 3,387,929 so far.
This time last year, Adele was simply gearing up to release her second album after Christmas – Adele-and-Kanye-West-lead-the-pack/">look at her now, eh? We’re very impressed!
