De Amerikaanse comedian Richard Lewis is op 76-jarige leeftijd overleden. Dat meldt entertainmentwebsite Variety. Lewis maakte in april bekend dat hij de ziekte van Parkinson had.
Lewis was stand-upcomedian, maar kreeg ook bekendheid door zijn rol in de televisieserie Curb Your Enthusiasm. Het twaalfde seizoen van de serie is momenteel te zien op streamingdienst HBO.
In 2021 deelde Lewis dat hij niet in het elfde seizoen van Curb Your Enthusiasm zat, omdat hij moest herstellen van drie operaties. Uiteindelijk verscheen hij alsnog in één aflevering. "Toen ik de set opliep en iedereen applaudisseerde, voelde ik me als 1 miljoen dollar", vertelde hij toen aan Variety.
